Christmas build challenge

That's a good point. I wish some more candidates would be presented! Surely there must be some more needs out there.......

I'm sure there are. As it gets more real (and it looks like it is) I'm sure in a group the size of LRH interest will be there.

Mostly men here, probably just realized only 2 shopping days until Christmas, and are otherwise occupied.:D

Rich,

I have a smith in mind that willing to help.. Here's what he said

" Let me know what parts I will be working with. If it's a custom or remington based action build I should be able to help out. Let me know what you have so far and the caliber and we can go from there.

Travis"

I would like to nominate my Dad for this.
He was born in Kingman, Az. In 1947. His mom died when he was 14 from srosis of the liver (alcoholic) and he was raised by his stepfather. He never really new his father he left when he was very young.
At age 17 he joined the navy and served from 1964 to 1973 during witch time he did five full tours and two partial tours. He spent most of that time on aircraft carrier's as a plane mechanic. He was nominated for a purple heart for catching a piece of metal in his left calf that he declined.
After his service he worked as a mechanic in a coal mine, a welder in the oilfield and a gun salesman. He met my mom around 1982 and had 3 kids. They started there own business in 1997 doing woodworking witch turned into a construction business.
On April 17th 2004 him my mom and my little brother (just turned 16) were in a car accident that killed my brother instantly, my mom lived for about three weeks before surcoming to her injuries and left him perminnently disabled. He had a broken ankle, knee and multiple fractures to his hip a concussion and several small lacerations and a bruised lung. He was out for about a year during this time he lived in the office of our shop because he couldn't bear being in his own house, he would just break down crying every room he went through. He ended up selling the house at a loss and bought a camper to live in and still lives in because he couldn't afford house payments.
During that time I was trying to keep the business afloat doing what small jobs I could do on my own. When he was able to start working again we got a contract to install utilities on a large subdivision. Towards the end of the project the owner ran out of money and declared bankruptcy. Needless to say that we lost the business and after he liquidated all of the businesses assets we were still in the hole. I have just finished paying off the last of the debt.
So today my dad is still living in the camper on my sisters property and living off of social security disability witch ain't much. My sister and I pay his day to day bills. He loves hunting and shooting. Especially Prarie dogs with a rim fire 22 and deer with a kimber 257 Roberts I got for him. I reload all he cares to shoot. He doesn't get around to good these days, he walks with a cane and has copd so I take him hunting as much as I can. I get him all set up in a chair and he goes to town. If he won this he would be eternally grateful to all of you. He's not new to long range but he would be new to it with a dedicated rig! Thanks Rich for rhe opportunity.

Well guys; congratulations! We already have enough for a build. It would be nice to get a couple more people nominated though.
Here is what we have so far:
Stocks (3) Savage VLP, Russo, B&C Rem 700 LA
Actions (1)
Barrels (1) possibly 2
Muzzle break (1)
Trigger (1) timney
Scope (1) 4x16 vortex PST
Rings and mounts (1)
Bullets asst. 6.5 & 270
Dies (1) Whidden for Sherman or Sherman Shortmag
Brass (50) Sherman or Sherman Shortmag
Reamer (1) " " "
Cash (4) donors)

It might be nice to see what else comes in yet as a couple of people have contributed quite a bit and it might lighten the load. Also, it would give us more options and a chance for a couple more candidates.
Way to go guys.......Rich
