I don't have and don't want Facebook and neither do a lot of people here. If Len doesn't have a problem with us doing it here we should keep it here. This is where we all "meet" anyways.

Lots of good points here. I was apprehensive about posting myself, but thought the nominee would not likely see it.

I would like to suggest that this be taken off the public forum and a private method of online collaboration be used. Something like a private facebook page where only contributors are members. The contributing members then vote for a recipient from the nominations.

It may also be a good idea for only contributors to be allowed to nominate. Though you would not have to nominate anyone to contribute! I feel this would eliminate scamming to a great extent. Parts, $$$ or services could be offered. If there are enough contributors, it might not be a big chunk of change out of anyone's pocket at all. I would also think that an insanely expensive custom should not be the goal here ( unless someone donates a Curtis action with Russo wood or something...). But, I think a hotrod wildcat like a 6.5 SS in a non top of the line but accurate LR rig with adequate optics for LR shooting might make a good target. Just thinking...

I like your idea of a private (non forum) site. I also like that only contributors can nominate because of the scamming issue.This may get more participation. I was actually thinking that myself earlier today. What do you suggest as a site? Would you mind setting that up? I have to admit that I started this without totally thinking it through but just felt led to get started....Rich

Looks like there is strong feeling of keeping it here. I do not do Facebook much myself but could live with leaving it here or moving to another spot depending on consensus? I just think we need to do "something" to get people to not be afraid to post?

As I was reading all the post I thought of an idea .. Maybe a group email between contributors .. So we know what's left and who are the nominees . Very easy to set up and we all use email.. That's if we decide to move it from here

Now to the question about being scammed. I believe there's no way we can actually know if we are being scammed so lets just hope we choose wisely and that who ever gets the Christmas build appreciates it and puts it to work

Great. I can do some cash and 2 boxes of 6.5 140 Amax and 2 boxes of Nosler 140 BTs if it is a 6.5 of some sort.

Nothing ever grows in a nice linear fashion, but some knowledge of the who could shape the direction of the build. It's likely one of the reasons for nominating someone could include a physical limitation. It would be nice knowing that earlier than later.
