You never know. That's my whole point.
I've had barrels that are beautiful on the inside that hate certain bullets or powders and fight every attempt at a good load.
I've also had factory barrels that had so much button chatter that it looked like railroad tracks ran through it. It would shoot almost anything I put through it. It was easy to find loads.
I just wanted to say that it may not be wise to send back a bad barrel that shoots well. It's possible the new barrel may look better but not shoot any better.
Exactly! The point remains the same that none of us can really know its full potential. As gohring3006 noted, it's an element of doubt that can be eliminated and the OP rightfully did just that. So which would you rather have ...
1. A barrel that shoots good with flaws like what the OP has ...
or
2. A barrel that shoots like #1 but without flaws.
Your comment "It's possible the new barrel may look better but not shoot any better", the opposite is also true.
Individuals have the ultimate responsibility of their decisions/actions and the consequences associated with it and each individual all deals with it differently. And as far as I know, no one is saying you are wrong.
Cheers!
