NEW BUILD ALERT!!!
Gentlemen, I would like to announce the arrival of a eight pound addition in the STW flavor. It came out VERY nice. It is living in my 700P stock for now, but will be in a Bobby Hart LRT. Also, for now, it is wearing a Nikon Monarch' 6.5-20 AO Target model. I am going to put a Leupold 6-18 AO target in a few weeks. But I can shhot it like it is for now, and do some load tinkering. ( maybe even a little whitetail sniping next month). The brass that was used to proof fire it is perfect. No lines or shiny spots on the body, which indicates a smooth chamber. Pix may follow. Thanks to all that have heard all the blow by blow updates. Take care to all.

7 STW,

I like it!!! Nice.....I looked at buying a Bobby Hart Stock ERT,or the Same LRT that you are going to buy. they are really cool looking and quite functional. I was lening toward the Grey/ Black laminate. I really like that color.

I ended up buying a Take of H-S Precision off of a Long action Old style Remington Sendero with out the palm swell. I have small hands and it seemed to fit better. It's a really solid stock and fit well in my budget.

That's a really clean looking rifle and I'm sure it will do fine. Did you have the action trued as well? What other work done???

Congrats, Now that's 4 kids in the STW family right???

Yup, that makes it back to four, but I am loading for five. ( my sons), which used to be mine. Any who, my original stock sendero HAS the stock, you have, and I love the way it feels in my hand. I have fairly big hands, but it just feels right. My 300 had the palm swell, and I hated it. On recoil, because my index finger was now more forward, the bolt knurling would rake across the top of my trigger finger, and leave a bloody gash. I still have the scar. That was usually in a hunting situation only not the bench, so when I bled, something else was USUALLY bleeding MORE!!!! But on this stock, which is borrowed from my 700 P , 7 mag, it dosen't do that. I am looking forward to the Bobby Hart LRT stock, and the 6-18 Leupold. I put the scope on layaway last week.
I did not do anything to the action. My smith did a quick, but thorough check, and said it seemed to be square, and the lugs were evenly seated. I knew that anyway, because I bought that gun last summer, as a potential 7 RUM build, then sold it back to the gun shop when I bought the CDL. ( big mistake). But the action is in great shape, and slick and smooth as can be. That's wry I bought it to begin with.
This barrel is exceptionally smooth, and has a double radius crown. That means, it has a 11 degree recess, and is chamfered
at the muzzle at about 45 degrees. It's a nice set up. I'm crossing my fingers, but I think, and feel like it will got into " the family " just fine. I'll make it shoot!!! I just have a good feeling about it overall.
Thanks for the feed back, and I hope all is well. Take care Dano1.

7stw,

I just got off of the phone with Butterbean (really nice guy by the way), He just talked me into a Lee Factory crimp die, which I just ordered! He got me thinking that it would lower my ES and help with more consistat ingition.

Lee only wants $20 to ship one for a 7STW, soooooo. It's on its Way!, Thanks Butter bean.

Can't wait to see the Bobby Hart stock, What color you looking at???

Dan

I'll second that notion about the " nice guy business", and we have also talked about the crimp die as well. There is some validity to the ES thing,as it does somewhat equalize the clamping load on the bullet. What we all want is consistency, and that pushes things that way. I have a set for my 308' and my 300 win mag. The only prob is that they are BOTH shooting so well, I'm not changing anything. I think that as in any other aspect of hand loading, once you find the " sweet spot" on the crimp, you are golden. Too much is dangerous, too little is useless. I have some brass that I think would respond to the crimp die. The A- Square brass loosens up after about three firings. Pockets are great, but I'll bet the crimp die would even them out some. HUUUUM, Butterbean, you've got me thinking about them now!!! Thanks, something else to buy!!! Hummmm!

Just got a call from my Smith today. He's got my barrel on my gun. Gonna send him a few rounds to test fire it next week and then I can bring it home. I can't wait to get it back and start working on a load for this rifle. Then when October rolls around I can STW a Big Ole Buck!!!! Oh yeah I've finished up my range to 400 yards, I laid it out so that a little more work and I can get 500 yards out of it.. Not many places in South Carolina that you can shoot 500 yards, and to be able to walk out my door and do it is great!!!!!gun)

7stw - You are on a roll lately!! Congrats on another new rig. I am heading down friday to check out new scopes for my gun, any of you guy's ever use the Sightron SIII?

Any of you guy's ever use or see a Titegroup rest? I ordered one up and I must say as far as craftsmanship it is hands down the best rest I have ever seen. Not to mention it works great!! Very easy to adjust and get set on target. The rear butt rest has a removeable starp so you can use it without it in or with it and it becomes like a lead sled. Great product.

BT is a abbreviation for Ballistic tip, which is made by Nosler, the TSX, is a Barnes triple shock X bullet, and the TTSX is a Tipped triple Shock X bullet.

Yeah, that is a great feeling. When I lived in Maryland, it was 473 yards to the edge of my woods. There was a dirt road that went to the woods, and I used it occasionally for target practice.
What barrel and action did you go with, and what twist! Once you smoke one with a STW, believe me, you are hooked for life. Awesome round, accurate, SHOOTABLE, and responsive. And most of all, DEADLY.

Bob,

You really have some sweeeeeeet looking 7mm STW rifles! :D

I really like that newest edition! :)

Thank you, and the reverse os true also. How are your little " sweeties" shooting since the " tune - ups" ? I am sure that they will be just fine. You made some very good decisions as to the investments that you made, and they will show up on paper, and in the freezers well.
I have a good feeling feeling on this one, that I just built. I am going to test it on Saturday. I processed 30 pieces of brass last nite, that I dedicated to this rifle only, just as the other ones. I'm going to try some 175 TSX 's to see what they'll do. The trigger on this thing is nearly as sweet as the 40 x trigger on my 700 P. Time will tell, and will post results. Thanks again, and feel free to ask if you need anything!! Take care.
Bob.
