7mm Blaser Mag experience?

midnight, I'd have to try to find receipts, but cost was very reasonable. I'm not sure about dies in stock, I think they build to order. They can build them off of a CIP drawing. Lead time was reasonable as well
Give Whidden a call. Nice folks.

The only dies I could find, when I bought mine, was the standard Redding 2 die set and I'm pretty sure I bought them from Grafs. It'd be nice to have a bushing die and a comp seater die but those weren't available but I see Redding now has a micro seater top you can add to a standard seating die so I may get one of those to add to my seating die.

I can't recall if I bought my brass from Grafs or Midsouth. I know I bought 200rnds to start with then someone sent me a PM and tipped me off to a big sale one of them was having on 7mm Blaser brass so I bought another 200rnds for half price of the first 200 I bought.

I'm still kicking around the idea of a 270 Blaser mag or maybe even a 6.5 Blaser Mag with those new 155's so that extra brass will come in handy if I do something like that.

I initially collected a fair amount of brass as well with the plan to do a necked down version also.

I keep hoping bigngreen will build one for someone so I'd have an idea of what to expect for performance from one but it's like we're all sitting back waiting for the other guy to jump first. lol

Wonder what one of these things could launch a Berger 170gr in .277 or this new 6.5 155 Berger. Maybe close to 3200 with the .277 170's and 3300-ish with those 6.5 155's???

I've kinda got a hankering for a Hardy CF wrapped barrel build in a 6.5 something or other but I don't want to be the first to jump.

Probably nearly exactly the same speeds as a .270 Wby Mag will push a 170gr...

Alright you bunch of huligans! Haha! I pulled the trigger on the new build. Here is the list of components thus far:

Defiance deviant hunter action
Proof SENDERO contour 1:8.24 twist
West Texas ordinance Mk2 brake
Triggertech trigger
Manners EH-1 stock w/ mini chassis
Curtis Custom magazine
Norma brass from brownells ($2.05 a piece)

I think I am going to go with Hawkins rings and a leupold vx-6hd 3-18x44 since it's a mountain rifle. I want to see if I can get the magpul aics mags to work with this cartridge. Also probably going to go with widden dies. Any thoughts on the leftover parts?

Looks good to me. It's fun helping someone spend, their, money for a change. These hunting/gun forums I belong to have been very costly for me, that's for sure.

just a thought 280AI do?? its bout 150fps or so slower than the 7mmRM and you can get brass from the 280REM very easy at Cabelas. Plus you can still use the .284 bullets. just a thought

edit. guess I should have read all the posts!!!

Read the posts man! It will help.

Some comparison. 7mm blaser on the left and 7mm LRM on the right.

Midnight, I just caught on to this thread today and read with interest. I did have a 7 mm Blaser made up 3 years ago, it was to replace a 7x61 so used the S&L action M65.
Dies at that time was available from CH, I also bought a Body die so I could use it with the CH neck Bushing die. The Chamber reamer was supplied by PTG. Both chamber and resizing dies are within CIP spec.(but the tolerance here is quit large).
Unfired brass I meassured to hold 81.7 gr, Fired 83.7, and Re-sized 83.0 gr. Ideally would be to have a die made up to "fit" the chamber, I think I then could double the times of reloads, I average 12 re-loads from a case, and what I read here, my load is mild. I tried MRP, H4831sc, 7828, 7977, Magpro, but finaly settle with Re 26 68.2 gr this give me 3050 ft/s using the Nosler Partition 160 gr. 26" barrel.
I'm interested to hear if any have chamber reamer made by Dave Mason or other reamer co. Gunnar BC

So I purchased a magpul aics Magnum magazine and it looks like it will work with the 7mm blaser. I don't have any dies to load any dummy rounds yet but the brass slips down in the mag just fine. Also tried with steel AICS branded magazine and it also seemed to work fine. Now just have to get this gun done and see if these magazines feed.
