7mm blaser mag?

What's the difference between the 338 Blaser and the 33 Nosler? Aren't they both shortened, rebated rimmed, Jeffery cases? I think the Nosler is 2.5" as well.

The nosler has 35° shoulder vs the 30° of norma, a bit less taper as well, probably 3gr more capacity.

Getting a little of track but a 338-7 Blaser with a 250 Berger seated just up in the neck is a perfect fit in a Tikka magnum magazine!

If I were going to build another 7 the 7-300WSM or 7-270WSM would be on my short list. In any case I would build it on a long action or a Tikka. The Blaser is basically a long SAUM or WSM. I think the Blaser is perfect for a Tikka build.
Brass? Norma makes 300wsm

Norma also makes 7 blaser brass. It's been plenty durable from most accounts I've read. There is a guy names kiwi Greg who's built an improved 7 blaser pushing. 195s close to 3100 fps, granted this is probably a max dangerous load(he's known for pushing the envelope) but his brass has survived at least 1 reloading. So it's pretty strong stuff. I'd think 200 cases would burn a barrel out in any wildcat based on the parent case.

Getting closer. Travis at TS Customs knocked out the build of my improved 7mm blaser magnum very timely. Hope to maybe shoot it this weekend.

I really like the 7 Blaser case, it's what Gunwerks should have gotten behind instead of doing the 7 LRM which does not work!
!

IMO, if more folks has just bought the 28 Nosler instead of pushing the 7 LRM past reasonable loads it would've fair'd much better. The best part about this thread so far is the 300 Blaser Magnum. I had no idea it even existed. Where do I find the print on it? It really would be so much easier if the 7-WSM had a longer Neck.

The way i understand it is in the U.S. we can only get the 7mm and 338 blaser brass, not the 300. I might be wrong. Here is the 338, stock 7mm, and Improved 7mm prints

300 blaser is not much different than the 30 nosler. Other than it has 30° vs 35° shoulder and a bit less taper. You cannot get 300 blaser brass in the US. However 3 different companies make 30 nosler and the adg stuff is premium stuff.

Scope mounted and sitting at 9.25lbs. Would be 14oz less with edge filled game wardens instead, but not bad feels good. Wont get to shoot until next week.

Have shot about 40 rounds so far by the end of today. Using h1000 and 69g to fireform (fireformed first 9 using 63g) and getting about 2830fps with a eol 195 with 24" barrel. Then once formed shot several lower charges working up
68.0=2818fps
68.2=2820
68.4=2811
68.6=forgot to arm radar
68.8=2845
69.0=2849
69.2=2869
69.4=2876
69.6=2897
cleaned barrel and shot 3 fireform rounds
69.8=2876
70.0=2877
70.2=2888

was loading 9 rounds over again and started shooting at about 1pm until about 4pm. Temps started about 78 and increased to 84.

Why would those last 3 rounds be so much slower than i expected after cleaning even as the temperature increased?

I have no experience with it but I have a 6.5 mm version of it in progress. I have the brass, barrel, bullets, stock, resize reamer and die, drawing for the chamber reamer, action has been ordered. I think it is the perfect size case for a hotrod 6.5. Here is a comment I made in a discussion on here 4 years ago.

Someone has fixed the issues I mentioned except the Blaser and the Remington 30 caliber case. I decided to have a little fun and do one of them myself.
Edd did you get your 6.5 blaser built?
