Wow. Really impressive considering the capacity. Im curious to hear about what it does with some other powders and how easy the cartridge responds to tuning.
Rich,
Not trying to bash!! But how can the 7 SS get these velocities with 168 bullet?
I understand that it is more efficient case, but this just boggles my mind.
This is faster than 28 Nosler 7mm STW and 7mm RUM. This 7SS Really sparks my
Interest. I shoot a 7WSM.....do you think these velocities are possible with the 7 WSM?
I've only been able to get up to 3080 with my 7WSM burning Norma 217 and RL 33.
I've been looking for RL26 and IMR 7977 to try. Keep up the work and keep us updated.
Again I'm not trying to bash

Rich,
I know its still early but if you had to estimate barrel life with 180's running hot, where would you put this cartridge?
Boy, that is a very good question. Rhian and I were speculating about that last night and the only answer I have is "pretty darn good"! I don't know what is typical of the WSM or SAUM, but this has to be better. It has less capacity, a sharper shoulder, and considerably longer neck.....Rich
Have you got enough rounds through the 6.5 version to provide evidence that it could be significantly better than the saum and wsm?
I have not, but based on the long action 6.5 Sherman, I think it is safe to say it will be better. My Sherman has 2000 rounds and still shoots well. The SS holds 4 grains less with the same design and a .020" longer neck than the Sherman......Rich
Impressive. You may have just chambered my next build.
