7 mm SHERMAN SHORTMAG vs 7 SAUM

They are the same case. The SS has a 40* shoulder and the SST has a 30* shoulder, which comes out to a ~50fps velocity difference. I have the same opinion as Phil. Since you're going up to a XM plus action you could move up to the 7max. You could always run it at 7SS speeds and get better Bbl and brass life.
 
The more I look at these, the more undecided I am. Comparing 153.5gr LRHT Bergers for 6.5Max and 190gr LRHT for 7Max. I put in a call to Sherman and left a vmail, hopefully his return call will clarify things.
 
Interesting! Started breaking in a 6.5 max this last weeekend.
