I am putting this Post aside from here out, should see post #310.
How is a

than a 1:8 .260???
Does not make any sense.
Because you're thinking like a gunsmith not like someone buying a rifle at Cabelas

Remington botched the cartridge for normal people with a 9 twist saami rec.
It works fine for people in the custom rifle and bullet world, but as much as we/they want it to that doesn't mean much for actual market sales. You gotta spec it right for the normals if you want to win. Sometimes it honestly feels like Remington couldn't find a shoe in a foot locker

Ahhhh.... but does the 6.5 PRC do anything more then what the 6.5 Remington magnum has been doing for what... 50+ years?

Playing devils advocate. Sold my 6.5 PRC because a friend REALLY wanted my Bergara rifle in it. But got a 6.5 RM and it shoots as tight and fast of groups as the PRC does.

1:8 isn't .260 sammi spec 🤷🏻‍♂️
Custom barrels/chamberings don't apply to 99.9% of shooters.
I still haven't seen any outlandish claims about 6.5cm. People can compare any other cartridges and it remains civil. A discussion about 6.5cm always ends up being 25 pages of memes

My personal opinion is that the 6.5PRC might be the first or second best cartridge introduced in the last couple decades. But I'll give credit where it's due- the overall design (not just the pointy end diameter) is a Creedmoor XL, and I believe George Gardner even said as much. I love my PRC Bergara and hope to test it against an elk soon. I don't want to be "hype guy", but the numbers at longer ranges (both fps & ftlbs) from my hand loaded 156 bergers are downright absurd and I'm eager to see what it "can't" do.
There is a thread on another forum with 25 pages of 6.5s showing what they "can't do" on deer, elk, moose and grizzly vs this one of 25 pages of memes and jokes

Hey... I just read that the 6.5 Creedmoor was capable of doing your taxes. That's awesome!!!! Really good reason to have one as I had heard that they could change the oil in your car and rotate the tires in 5 minutes!!!

Lol not a 6.5 hater as I semi fell in love with the performance of the 6.5 PRC and 6.5 RM. Flat shooting... hit decently hard. If it was a critical hunt... I think that I would still reach for my 7 mm or 300 WSM or any of my 300 magnums. BUT... I like the performance.

Need a 264 Win Mag now after I figure out what to do for a scope for the 26 Nosler.

Also photo for those curious... 6.5 creed, 6.5 PRC, 6.5 RM and 26 Nosler

And no one is saying it is magical

Much like the maligned 6.5 CM, it was once (by many) suggested to be some things it clearly wasn't. Good, perhaps very good…..but not spectacular!

It was introduced when a good, factory, high performance .30 cal. was wanted by the shooting/hunting public, by a well respected firearms company, offered in a rifle that was generally accepted one of the best sporting rifles of the time, good factory (of the time) ammo of the time was made readily available, and it did have more "punch" than hunters/shooters of the time had experienced!

Magical no…..be it had a lot of stuff going for it! memtb

Savage has three off the shelf hunting rifles that are 1-8 twist.
