I was very hesitant about the 6.5 until the elk fell in it's tracks.

Oh it's a stretch, I just laugh at all these ppl who act like elk are invincible. A well placed shot with a good bullet at a proper distance will get it done.

We dropped 2 cow elk last weekend with 6.5x55 shooting 135gr Berger Classic Hunters over H4831SC. Probably loaded mild about 2600fps.

Neither went more than 30 yards.

Did some load finalizing/seating depths, on a previous RL17 test of 39.8gn and it was better than the H4350, with no sticky bolt. Best was the 2.160 cbto, ES 10, AVel 2752, muzzle energy 2623 ft-lbs. This is my new elk back-up rifle load.

This is the 156 bullet? Great velocity how long is your barrel?
