Id be willing to bet there's several people giving advice in this thread that have never even seen an elk.

There is zero doubt in my mind that's true. I also believe that a vast majority have only take a few and a lot of them were on guided hunts and or on private lands flame suit on

No need to look down on guided hunts or private land. It's not like DIY public elk wear different bulletproof vests than private elk do.

Funny you mention that. Based on Form's discussion on the EXO gear guys podcasts I am selling my Ruger Super Redhawk 44mag with a 2.5" barrel and going to an HK 9mm with the new Hornady dangerous game loads or a Buffulo Bore for the backcountry. That whole thought process of that discussion made a lot of sense to me.
