I voted 338 edge. I've seen it available online lol
I have built 4 338 edge rifles and all were built on borden timberline actions with douglas 30 inch barrels and you can not tell the differance between any of them. They all shoot lights out. You can do alot of damage with one of these.I down load these rifles for close work, inside 600 yards. With the cutting edge mth 225.And the work perfect.

TSA just gonna love both of you gentlemen with all that metal. Glad both are ok. Do have question on brass for the .338AM and edge. With kirby's AM and AE, does kirby get his brass from bertram or else where? At $300 per 100 one can hope for long life. Bertram brass for .338 edge or is ADG better brass for less?

That was only ONE gentleman with ALL the Titanium; ME! ;)

As for the .338 Allen EXPRESS, I personally use .338 Lapua brass.

I guess so beginning to wonder if your nickname is lucky. Good to hear you are upright and kicking Sir.
Let's just say that THROUGHOUT MY ENTIRE LIFE, I have kept my Guardian Angels busy!!! ;)

The things that I could tell you.......geepers!

I will say that was the SECOND TIME breaking my right Tibia and Fibula. ........

.338 Norma or Norma improved variant is what I would go for. Since it is a hunting rifle, you can easily run them as a repeater in a 3.850 mag with a 300 Berger and use all of the potential case capacity, not really doable with the Edge, though you can just jump a lot, out of a Wyatts 3.850" mag. I don't know the specifics of the rum with a Sierra 300, it has a little shorter nose than the Berger, so it may be workable out of a rum in a 3.850 mag with optimal seating, I don't know either way.

The standard Norma will get you 2650+ with a 300 pill and optimum powders, even in a 24" barrel (my buddies is 2750 with a mild load out of a 28"), an improved version will get 2850ish or better depending on the variation you go with.

I just finished up putting together my back country elk rig, a 9.1 lb all up .338 Norma mag, handles like a dream, especially compared to the 14 lb pig I was used to carrying all over the back country. Barrel is 24" plus brake, #5 spiral fluted Lilja. My buddies 11.5 lb .338 NM is pretty fun too, just a little heavy for what I wanted to do. it sure does shoot sweet though. Haven't put rounds through this one yet, hopefully soon!!View attachment 168422 View attachment 168423 View attachment 168424
What stock please?

This is a tough question for me ..
I have 3 338 Rums and 3 338 Edges .
They are both so close it's a toss up .
I hunted with my Proof Edge and it's amazing ! Put it this way it cost me alot of $$$ at the Taxidermy Shop.
I took my Elk this year at 1244 yrds with the 300 gr berger elite hunters. Just banged steel at 2053 yrds with my heavy Edge. I guess it's time to break out the Rums to find the best set up .
They both shoot the 300 bergers almost the same speed .
I'm going to pick the 338 Edge because the name is Cool !
I'm adding that all 6 run Remington Brass .

Rum Man
My name is Leroy.
This right here is my brother Leroy.
An over there be my other brother Leroy. lol

The 338 Edge is a fine cartridge. The fact that it uses a case allowing for a standard magnum bolt face, makes it a more desirable choice than others in my opinion.
The cartridges having a case with a larger head, need an action with a larger diameter bolt, at least in my opinion.
My son has a 338x378, built on a 995 Saco 3 lug action.
Saco offered that model in 30x378 and 338 Lapua, but not for a very long period.
His velocity with a 300 gr bullet is very close to 3000 fps.
At 1500 yards, the 300 gr Berger, and the 285 Hornady will land in the same place with the same number of clicks.
I have no doubt that a 250 gr would be pretty much the same at that distance.
My son can load his ammo on any standard loading press, same as you can with an Edge, or a Lapua.
I needed to buy a 50 caliber size press in order to load for my Big Baer.
And i needed custom made dies, a new trimmer, and a new priming tool.
Of coarse our separate depriming press and die wont work for that either. I have to knock the old ones out with a long punch.

As for the hunting, there is the real world, and then there is our dream world.
But we can if we choose, use the dream world guns at real world distances. lol
Otherwise they might never get used, at least for hunting.

Get the picture?
