6.5X300RUM Improved !!!! LOL
I am all about speed, usually. I have a 220 swift I can get 4400 fps out of 4350 with extreme accuracy. I have two .300 Win Mags for long range with heavy energy. I have THREE .243's which are amazing, especially with 58 Gr. V-maxes at 4100 FPS, 1/4" groups. The 6.5 Creedmore BORES me. If you want a lot of flexibility and want to shoot long Range, build a 243 Ackley Improved. Better than a 6-284. More user friendly. You can shoot highly explosive 55, 58 gr bullets or 115's for long range. Get a 1-8" twist. Better BC than a 6.5, much more bullet availability, less powder, less recoil. Cheaper bullets. Use it for Varmint hunting to almost anything hunting with the right bullet. and for long Range targets. If you notice, Benchrest shooters are going BACK to 6mms versus 6.5. If you know your distances you don't even need the ackley. The .243 is probably the most perfect round ever made. Superformance powders have changed everything. The .243 with Superformance powder is a solid 200 fps faster than not. It makes it virtually the same as a 6-284 without the hassle of getting brass. But Everything has it's limitations. I built a 300 win mag long range because it has more ENERGY and want to shoot out to 1500 yards or more. With a JP Eliminator Tank Brake the 300 win mag is a pussycat and I can easily see my shots through the scope. The 3 port comp is almost as good and may look better (subjective). My swift with a brake shoots like a 22 LR.
It depends on what you want your bullet to do at the other end!!!
But about that Muzzleloader - think 45cal. BPC !!!!
