300 Norma vs 22 Dasher

How about a 6.5x .257 Weatherby?
140g @ 3100+.

I have a couple 6.5-300wm's and a 6.5x68 Imp. They are basically the same thing but the 6.5x68 Imp is beltless uses RWS brass (even tougher than Lapua) and has the same capacity as Winchester 300wm brass necked down. RWS 300wm brass loses about 3grs of capacity and 50+fps. 140's at 3300+fps using Retumbo or slower powders. It has a bit of a odd .511 case head diameter but other than that it's a good case.

What is the barrel life on a 22 Dasher? I am building a 22BR for a match rifle. Looking for 2950-3050 with 88gr ELDMs.

Great point. I'll take any wild game in Texas with the 22 Dasher. The 80.5gr Berger is vicious. The 45cal smokeless muzzleloader will take care of the rest!

Why bridge the gap at all? Maybe take the next step up and let the 300 be the "bridge" gun? Something like the .375 or .408 Cheytac? Just a thought for s's and g's. ;)

I'm getting about 3300 with the 80.5 Berger. I'm running it hottt so 1000 rounds will satisfy me but I would think 2000-2500 from the 22br would be expected. If I'm someone with more knowledge might argue?

A shooting buddy has shot the 22 dasher in our local groundhog matches in SW Pa. and it shot very well. I think he was shooting the 75 or 80 gr. bullets at 3200 fps.

Assuming U do not a Belt, want an in between Calibre diameter with good selection of Projectiles - maybe consider 7mm. SAUM --

I love my 6.5X284 but its recessed face bothers some but not me & with Barnes TSX - Moose & Elk have fallen with ease !!!

But about that Muzzleloader - think 45cal. BPC !!!!

45-90.............OH, you didn't mean for the 300 Norma to be the MIDDLE cartridge? ;)

I'll admit I'm looking pretty hard at the 6.5 PRC. I like the 6.5 cal and the Creedmoor just doesn't have the oomph I would want for those bullets. That said, I did pick up a 6mm Creedmoor RPR and absolutely love it but it's for range shooting in production benchrest matches and trying to make small groups at long ranges.
