30 NOSLER OR 300 PRC

Yeah, but they weren't the first to wildcat them, were they? So, my argument is still completely valid.

Anyone can do anything if they've got the time and money to invest. Whether it's completely useless or not is up to the consumers.

I can't speak to the date of the original 300 PRC design, but I have a copy of the original 338/375 Hornady Match reamer print dated October of 2009. It matches the dimensions of a 300 PRC necked up to 338. I got it back in January of 2010 while working on the 338/375 Ruger (375 necked down with no other changes). It's reasonable to assume that they were also working on a 30 caliber version at the same time. Since they had access to the 375 Ruger case dimensions before anybody else did, it seems pretty likely that they were the first to neck it up and down to various dimensions.

That is an "assumption" on your part that is probably inaccurate from what I know. As I said it was necked down most from day one and submitted to the army before 2010 I know as tooley had been working on it with hornady for a couple years with different reamer specs and shooting it wit them.

I never said it wasn't an assumption. I never said it was fact. Just said it was my opinion.

Pretty sure Hornady necked it up and down to multiple popular bullet diameters before anybody else even laid eyes on the first one they released, most likely in different variations of shoulder angle, neck length and body taper, etc ....

It's called Reasearch & Development .. and often Refinement prior to and at times post release of product

I've had my 338-375 Ruger for a few years now. I love this thread because I have a 30 Nosler, too. The 300 PRC won't do anything the 30 Nosler won't do, which is noting that he 300 Weatherby won't do, which isn't a whole lot more than what the 300 Win Mag will do which is what the 300 H&H has been doing for a Century. Pick one, find a bullet it loves, shoot the heck out of it and have fun. There's not an animal on the planet that would know the difference.

Do you have any idea how many SAAMI cartridges were once Wildcats? They were all the same situation. Somebody started it with a Wildcat and a manufacturer picked it up and made it a standard commercial cartridge. Nothing new bud. If you're gonna bash Hornady for commercializing a Wildcat on their own design then you might as well bash every ammo and brass manufacturer out there cuz they've all done it.

And of course they need to rename the Wildcats. Wildcatters sometimes use some really stupid names on their rounds. Who the hell is gonna buy a "300 Boo Boo" or a "300 Campfire"??? PRC is simple and it doesnt make people sound stupid when they are saying it out loud.

Yeah... All of them. It's just that the people who buy into the hype think it's the most awesome thing ever, and that nothing else has ever been as good, or will ever be better, or that nothing else matches the performance, when it's quite clear they only understand their hype-taught marketing talking points that they read online, saw on youtube, or read in a pimp-piece gun magazine article. Until Hornady craps out something else the next year. Then THAT cartridge is the best, blah blah blah. Then repeat every time they pop a new one.

It's not the cartridges that I have such a problem with, it's the die-hard followers, the newbies, and the ignorant who truly don't know any better, but tout it as the best thing ever. I can't really fault Hornady, they're just capitalizing on the human stupidity of following trends. I'm not wired to be a trendy person or a follower, so I don't see it the same way yall do. I see it as lemmings following each other over the cliff. But that's just me.

Why does this stupid statement continue to be made?????? Should we all just shoot the first cartridge ever "invented" for each caliber???? Should we be shooting the 300 H&H? what do you suggest? Obviously you do not like the 300 PRC. Great, don't get one. I actually have one and so far am not impressed compared to the 30 Nosler but I would prefer it to my 300 Win mags. In any case it will fill a very small niche for many and that is great for them. By your logic we would not have the 300 RUM which I am not a fan of but many love it. We also would have have the Nosler line of cartridges and the 30 Nosler is quickly becoming my favorite cartridge. I could not care less if manufacturers continue to come out with "new" cartridges every other year to see which ones stick until the day I die. No matter how small the step it is still innovation that benefits us shooters.

Well said!

Of courses you've never fallen for it. You'd never hype up a product that you don't have any first hand experience with, you're way to smart for that. You'd never be a blindly loyal supporter parroting back the designers talking points despite having never used the products.

Nothing ruins a good product quite like a bad advocate.

You're referencing Rich's cartridges... Ironically, while I don't have any first-hand experience of his exact labeled cartridges, I have messed with others extremely similar. So, before attempting to insult someone, I would recommend knowing what you're talking about to avoid looking stupid.

And as for your opinoin, as well as Feenix's, and several others on here, I could honestly give less than a s*** what you think about anything. The only reason I even respond is because I'm bored.

The feeling is mutual as you know it.
Exactly. It just is what it is. I don't hate or really dislike anyone, I just simply don't care what some people think, because no matter what, we're never going to agree on most things. I try not to take the internet too seriously...That's why I joke on things a lot. But some folks get really ****ed when you do, because they can't separate internet from real life.
