That is why I dont walk through cabelas doors.
Cabela's is not Cabela's anymore, they are owned by Bass Pro Shops which is the rotten apple at the bottom of the barrel. As a result of this buyout, Cabela's has been decimated to the point of being useless.
There are two basic problems with this .280AI question:
The .280AI case has lost it's glow. That train has left the station. Basically, Nosler brought it to market then proceeded to screw us with rapacious pricing. This is their standard pricing plan, find the right price then double or triple it because the company name is Nosler and the consumers will pay it.
They have a non-U.S. company make the brass and ship it in which also adds to the overhead. Now the bigger problem is that Nosler is having a really hard time keeping the supply line filled and it's failing at that. Even if I buy OEM quantities, I'm being told that I will wait 6 more months. This is unacceptable but they thinks it's O.K.
The overall market for the .280AI is simply not that large. With the companies already represented, there may not be enough room for another developer to join the club because their slice of the pie may be too small. Thoughts of pushing one of the other companies out of this market will probably not come to fruition. While I like ADG brass better than a couple of those in the market already, another presence may not be acceptable just yet.
I would buy the very best brass currently available and have a supply which will outlast the hunting rifle I shoot, which is not hard. Remington brass is good enough to use as straight .280 Remington for hunting and fireform it in the AI chamber. The pressures found at the upper end loads will be slightly lower as the factory case expands in the new, larger chamber for the AI. Handled properly, 100 cases prepped and loaded will last a hunter a lifetime.
