280 AI brass

Get ahold of some RL23 it works wonders in the 280AI.

If the weather cooperates anytime soon I'll shoot my first OCW with RL-23 and the Berger 175 EH in Nosler brass. Broke the barrel in and loaded the OCW two weeks ago and the weather went to crap.

I have had more offers to buy my 280ai than any rifle I have owned. Its very popular, in Montana anyhow. Im honestly quite surprised how popular it is.

I can't comment on accuracy yet but recoil with factory 162 ELD-X and 160 Nosler partitions is not much more than my 6.5 Creedmoor. I was very suprised and was prepared to go muzzle brake shopping.

A crappy rainy day (at least it's not snowing) question. Why haven't any other manufacturers other than Hornady and Nosler started making 280 AI brass? I'm thinking Alpha, Bertram, Starline, Peterson, Lapua, etc. The Nosler is great but pricey. I know buy once cry once but when I switched from Lapua to Starline for my 6.5 Creedmoor I cut my brass cost almost in half.

I don't like what is going on with Nosler and their brass prices. I did locate some .270 Winchester brass for $36/50 and some Norma brass @ $52/50. I'm thinking of annealing the cases first, trim and then resize them in the .280 AI dies and fire form from there. I am totally new to this, however from all that I have read here, this ought to work fine.

I bit the bullet and bought 2 boxes of the nosler when my rifle was built. It was pricey but worth it. I have shot the 1st 50 3 times each with stiff loads of imr7977 and it's still in great shape and that's with FL resizing and I don't do annealing. (I'm scared of ruining my brass).Pushing a 160gr. @2940 with an es of 8 out of a 24" tube, SAAMI chamber. I picked up 1 lb. of rl23 recently per lance and elkaholics' suggestions but I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet I hope it does a bit better. So yes I am enamoured with my 280ai and I don't think it's lost any of its charm.
