25-06 Sendero varmint laods

gun)
I just recently picked up a sendero in a 25-06. This is going to be my dedicated varmint rig this year. I just picked up some 87grain speer tnt's, 85 grain ballistic tips and 90 grain sierra blitzkings. Any of you guys had any luck with these bullets in the sendero? Im curious if the 1:10 twist of the sendero will stabilize these light bullets.

traded up .243 (my long time coytote cal) to 25-06 (Sako 85's) for longer range with a hard hit. 1-10 does great with my 100g ttsx & hv100, speer 100g btsp & h4831sc , 110 nab & retumbo/h4831, & 115g vld & retumbo all are hard fast flat tack drivers!

no fps velocity info (in need of new chro)lightbulb the Sako's 25-06 & my 30-06 have 22.3" tubes sacrificing aprox 60-100 fps over 24"+ but for a lightweight all day carry rifles I couldn't ask for much more. I have a couple 100 Hornady 85g fbsp & 75g fbhp from my father in-law that i will work on soon just to mess around with but think ill be going with the 80g ttsx & hv100 for an explosive 3700 fps + ( ? ) being a huge Barnes fan 25-06 in my opinion is a all round varmint to med game hammer

I use H4831SC. My varmint load is a 85 gr Nosler B.T. and Deer Load is a 115 gr Nosler B.T. Rifle also shoots 75 gr V-Max and 100 gr Sierra Gamekings really well. Use CCI Large Rifle Primer.

Well I finally got out today to try out the sendero and man is it a shooter! I just got it bedded and topped it off with a Leupold VX-3 8.5-25 which is a loaner from my pops until my 6.5-20 gets back from the factory after the turrets are installed.

Anyways I loaded up a few loads all with IMR-4350 and tried 87gr Speer Tnt's, 90gr Sierra BlitzKings and 100gr ballistic tips. I only shot 3 shot groups at 100 yards but with new Norma brass, fed 210 primers and the brass just neck sized I was able to get a .290" group with the 100gr ballistic tips and 50.5gr and a .310" group with the sierra blitzkings and 52.1gr.

Overall I couldnt be happier and think I'll stick with the ballistic tips for now as it is more of a dual purpose bullet if needed for groundhogs and deer.

Just curious but has anybody ever used the 100gr ballistic tips for groundhogs and what kind of damage did they do? I figure they should do well considering they are moving around 3300fps but i know they have a little thicker jacket than the tnt's and blitzkings so Im just curious.

Hey guy's I'm new to the forum but have been shooting for 30 plus years. Anyway I picked up a sendero last winter. I tried several powders before I found this load. The following load shoots in the .2s & .3s consistantly. I have shot no less than twenty 3-shot groups and none were larger than .3. Some were in 15 mph cross winds! Anyway I've shot ten or so woodchucks at various ranges and all died instantly. Pretty happy so far. Now I just need that 800 yard shot :D

Rem. Nickle Plated brass
IMR 4350 - 50.5 grains (tested 49-52 - .5 increments)
Nosler 100 BT
CCI BR2 Primer
COL - 3.215

Thanks remsendero! That same exact load gave me groups in the .3's as well.

Here's one of my quarter inch 3 shot groups. Might go back and try my 85 grain combined technologies BT with IMR 4350 for a little flatter shooting. I'll keep you posted.

Motown, it looks like you were getting around 3300 fps with this load. Is that correct. Thanks much...

With the 90 grain blitzking and 52.1 grn of imr 4350 i was just about at 3300fps. I never put the 50.5 grn and 100 grn ballistic tip through the chrony but im guessing it'll be around 3150-3200fps.

Okay thanks. When I get a chance to chrony my 100 BT load, I'll post the results.

I'm late coming into the discussion and I'm left handed so I couldn't get the Sendero but my Browning X-bolt shoots the Speer 87 TNTs into the .3 range with two types of brass and two different lots of RL-19. Loaded to Speers max of 60 Grains they are doing 3469 FPS out of my stock 24 inch 1 in 10 twist. Can't wait to try them on P-dogs or a coyote.
