156 EOL at 3100 FPS

Tell me more about xbolt in 26 ... I know it has nice 7 inch twist needed for 156. What about throat and mag? Is it long enough? I know that x bolt in 28N is too short to use 195 :( What about accuracy? Going with x bolt instead of custom would save me lot od money;)
Dont let the gun choice dictate what you want by the 7 twist, theres been quite a few guys on here shoot the 156's with a 8 and they've did fine.

I know that they can shoot good in 8 twist, but my BC will be lower. I do lot of hunting below 0* C and at low altitude. According to berger twist rate calculator in my conditions, at 3100 fps my SG is 1.37. I need at least 7.5 to be over sg = 1,5.

Well, I know one guy who claims to get that velocity with the 6.5 PRC.

everyone else I know is in the high 2900's.

I'm pushing the 195 EOL at 2965 with my 7mM Rem Mag.

and I have a Wildcat that I call the 6.5 Colorado that pushes the 156 at 3150fps.

I actually pushed a Barnes 127 LRX to 3413. That's pretty decent considering my cartridge is short action.

the next big gain here is taking a .338 Lapua case and necking it to 6.5.
I have some questions on your 6.5 Colorado cartridge What case is it based on? What's the overall case length and how much water does it hold?

I've had both 264WM and 26N. They seem similar in many respects. Is there a reason that the 26N is more overbore than the 264WM? Is there a reason the 264WM would have a notably longer barrel life all else equal? Thanks for your thoughts on this.

I shoot a 20BRAI in a 9 twist with the 55 bergers with a S.G of 1.25 and they shoot great and stabilize.
A gun that you like and fits you is so you can shoot accurately is way more important than worrying about "possible " a couple inches of B.C at 1000

You are right;) Anyway If i go custom i will still choose a 7.5 or 7 twist. With 264 Im forced to go custom, because factory rifles are 1 - 9 so it will probably strugle with 156:(

My 26 Nosler barrels are 8 twist and work great for 140 and 142 projectiles. 9 is too slow. 7.5 might be a good compromise if you ever wanted to shoot lighter projectiles.

264WM with 156's @ .070 off, getting 2980 FPS from 58.8 grains of RE23, a mild load that shoots great. It will do the 3100, but the gun just loved this load.

it's a belted magnum case. You can use just about any case with a belt.

it's xactly .308 length.

i typicallyseat long, but I can still stack in an AICS mag.

right now, I have some cases I made from a .300 Wby mag and it's shooting almost a single hole at 100 with under 10 ES.

this thing has some real SHTF utility. You can make it out of a dozen different cartridges and it drops game like nobody's business. I zero for 300 and I don't have to aim off the animal until it's past 450.

I found quoted loads for the Messner 6.5, and IMO the 156 eol is gonna be best purposed in 26 Nosler for your quoted load. This should give you easily attainable loads for powders you can procure in Poland. As stated, a 6.5-68s, 264WM, 6.5 Messner are all going to fall just short for normal hunting loads. Also considering Hunting Firearm permits are required, we don't know the "Approved Cartridge" list for Poland in regards to Permitting. Best Regards.

MY Win 70 264 mag EW 26" Bbl will easily drive the Nosler 140 AB to 3222 fps using VV24N41 powder. With a 156 gr bullet a yet slower burning powder like US 869 should do the 3100 fps with ease. These powders ( VV24N41 & US 869 ) are far slower than Rel 26 yet seem to be over looked.
