156 EOL at 3100 FPS

Hi guys!
First post here, but I've been reading for a long time. Sooo...
Looking for new light weight rifle with decent long range capabilities. As always It starts with cartridge choice. I have decided that I will try some bigger 6.5s. After math in my ballistic calculator, I have noticed that new 156 EOL at 3100 fps, can beat 215 hybrid at 3000fps and even 195 EOL at 2800 with much lower recoil. Of course by beating I mean drop and drift. Which cartridge will gives me 3100 ? 6.5PRC looks bit weak for that. I would prefer to stay away from super overbored 26 nosler and 6.5 - 300 wby. My current favorite is 264WM. Is this possible ?
Other choices ? No wildcats :(

Second question. How does new EOL keep on close range impacts? Currently Im 185 vld in my 06, they hold up really well, but MV is 2820 fps ...
best regards
I am getting ready to break in a new custom 264 win mag with the 156EOL NEXT WEEK END AND WILL POST SPEEDS FROM THE LABRADAR
THE RIFLE HAS A BARTLINE

we are going to break in a custom 264 win mag with a bartlein left hand game twist 8.3- 7.4 we are going to shoot 156 EOL AND WILL POST LABRADAR SPEEDS NEXT WEEKEND

I just tested with a 6.5 saum with the 156 yesterday. I got just over 3100 with h1000, but the groups were always two touching and one a 1/4 inch away. At 62 grains and a cci I have a faint ejector mark, but cases extract smooth. I did fire 4 of my rounds for my Saum out of this gun and it was 3135 with 62.5 of rl26. Those cases had no swipe and extracted crazy smooth. The group was from 62 grains of h1000 at 3085. The test gun is a 6.5 saum built by Long Range Customs. It's a Lone Peak Ti action, 24" Proof Research barrel, AG Composites stock, at 7.9 pounds.

Just start with a 265 win mag, or 26N. You will get to 3100 with no issue and can run low pressures. Most of the rest you will need to lean on them pretty hard.
My thought as well. Looks like the OP is looking for a hunting rifle. Even though both the 264WM and 26N are overbore, not likely to burn out a barrel in a hunting rifle that shoots a few rounds per year. 156 at 3,100 not really needed for target work.

Did not Know that RE33 would would work in my 6.5 PRC. I was using it in My 338RUM and sold it with the powder Dang. Still Have my H1000 but 80 fps less.

I have attained 3100fps with my 28" Lothar Walther barreled 6.5-284 Norma and 147gn ELD-M's. I used RL26 and CCI BR2's but you might as well throw the brass in the trash afterwards. I used once fired Norma and Nosler brass for the testing and stayed away from my Lapua brass. Ejector marks were on all cases, primers cratered and brass flowed so much primer pockets would not hold primers even remotely close to snug. Based on that testing, I personally will not try to push the 156gn to 3100fps with my 6.5-284. My go to is Retumbo, BR2's at 2950-3000fps.
If I wanted that performance in a 6.5mm, and it would be quiet a lightening bolt, I would look at the .264 WinMag as a starter and then either the 6.5-.300 Weatherby or 6.5 RPM (which is a stretched 6.5-284Norma). Either of these three, IMO, could meet and surpass this requirement.

You are right. Im looking for hunting rig.
If you're looking for a stalking or blind rig where you may need to shoot long range, then probably don't need to worry about overbore because it would take years to shoot out a 264WM or 26N barrel.

If you're going to use the rifle for a setting with lots of repeated firing over a short time (e.g., driven boar), then neither of these are good choices.

I see you said you live in Poland, so my first thought is for you to research which cartridges have the most available components, specifically brass. That's going to be your biggest issue.
Now, the 264 Win or the 26 Nosler are probably your best bet for brass and achieving the velocity you want out of the 156 gr Berger, plus they've been around awhile (specifically the 264 Win). The PRC won't get you there, mainly because it's built on a short or medium action. I have a 6.5-284 Norma built on a long action. I don't shoot the 156, but I could probably get close to 3100 fps with RL26. But, even if I did, that's running it at absolute max, while the 264 Win or 26 Nosler will get your speeds with more mild loads.Your brass will last much longer, as well as your barrel. The new Weatherby will have only Weatherby brass available for the moment. We'll see if other manufacturers come into the game if the cartridge catches on. Plus, any Weatherby brass is very expensive.
I went through this thought process a few years ago when I wanted a 338 caliber. I purchased a 338 Lapua over a RUM because there was a ton of brass available from multiple manufacturers, while the RUM had very few offerings, if you could even find some.
