10.5 lb rifle for elk hunting

Yes sir. I have already been invited to WY but my wife is disabled and have not had anyone that can stay with her. Just getting something together and dreaming mostly. One of these days.
From one vet to another, thanks for your service, brother. I have a hunch you'll make that hunt. God bless

The best way to see if that rifle will for your purpose for sure would be you get out and carry it around and then shoot it a bit. Not sure how far from the hills you are, but if you have any public land you can hike and shoot on, or just hike with the rifle, it will be good conditioning and possibly shooting prep and you can see what your limitations are.

I think that is a great idea…..but, I suspect that many "do not" want to find out how poorly they shoot after a little physical exertion!

Many years ago on another forum….we were having a friendly shooting competition. Every two or three months someone would have an idea for a new/different competition.

As many folks do not have ready access to steep hills for the "exertion/stress factor"…..I proposed that the competitors merely walk 200 yards at a brisk pace, for example out to their 100 yard target frame and back to their bench/firing line.

That idea went over like a "lead ballon"! You'd have thought that they would be forced to offer their first born as a blood sacrifice.

If I recall, once returning to the firing line, the competitor would shoot one round at a target placed at the 100 yard target frame from a typical hunting shot scenario of their choice……prone, sticks, bipod ect. Then, which has given the shooter a moment to recover from the "hike" …..stand and make a shot freehand. These 2 shots must be made inside of 1 minute upon returning from the "hike". The two shots were measured from target center.

Suffice to say…..that little competition did not happen! memtb
