Who is still shooting 300 Win Mag

I may want to throat this one longer.
Uhhhhh 100% hahahah. Not knocking anyone whos running them in saami form because the design has definitely stood the test of time! But if you reload, I don't see why you wouldn't throat it properly. It's my belief that if it would have been designed that way then the birth of the 300prc (as we know it) wouldn't have happened. That's a different topic though. Get it throated accordingly and it will put a smile on your face!!!

3 300WM
Custom remington 700 RUM action with a heavy fluted Wilson barrel and McMillan stock. Crazy accurate with 200.2 bergers Peterson long brass!
Browning Abolt2 with some slight modifications very accurate with 215 Bergers.(was backup) ADG brass
New tikka roughtech Ember. Sweet shooting light weight rifle. Shoots awesome with 185 juggernaut and standard Peterson brass. (New backup)
I grew up with one rifle for many years till I bought my first .22-250. That old Abolt 300WM shot everything! Prairie dogs, coyote, jacks, beaver, many deer. It was all I had and I will always have a 300 WM. Peterson brass is fantastic and I used ADG in the old Browning. Regardless of what new caliber rifle I take on a hunt there is always a 300WM that rides along with😎

I have always had a 300WM in my safe, currently own 6 and use 5 regularly, had 10 total in 2020 but sold off most of my Kimber rifles when I sold my 'smithing business.
It is the fundamental 'do-all' magnum cartridge IMHO. You can get ammo, if you lose yours, just about anywhere.
I really like 200g Accubonds for general hunting and use 210g ABLR for LR work. Will be trying Barnes 180g TTSX in one of my rifles because they work so well in my 300RUM.
Another great bullet I used for 15 years is the Berger 210g
Hybrid, the 215g Hybrid is also great.
Early days, due to 3.340" magazine length, I ran 180g Accubonds @ 3160fps and they dropped everything they touched. In fact, Accubonds are one of my favourites in all cals.

Cheers.

I'm shooting an old Browning Stainless stalker with the BOSS brake. Noisy but very effective brake and when you get it dialed, she can really shoot some tight groups. Mine loves 208 Eld-m's. So far it's been deadly on elk and mule deer from 100 to 790 yds. Still one heckuva cartridge and joy to shoot.

I'm curious to see who is all still shooting your 300 Win Mag. I have a 300 Win Mag 26" bull carbon fiber barrel. I will hopefully be shooting this weekend with factory ammo till I get some Peterson long brass. What your go to bullets over 200gr preferred?
Two local guys who have shot elk love the Berger 210
Hi , I started hunting in 1984 at 13 hunting with a Ruger m77 300 win mag. I missed my share of big bucks with it until I disciplined myself . I shot a ton of of ammo all through the year. I now shoot a Sako L61and a Browning Bar safari with a Boss tr . I load my own rounds . My favorite is starting with a nosler custom brass case, a Winchester magnum primer, I have had the best luck with Imr 4831sc powder and a nosler 165 gr. accubond bullet for deer and a combined technology 180 gr failsafe bullet.

Can anyone tell me what the normal case growth is? Shooting factory ammo. No bolt lift or signs of pressure. Just want to make sure it's set right !

Case elongation, aka growth, occurs upon sizing the case, not firing it. Upon firing, brass is pulled from the neck to fill the shoulder as it expands and moves forward, the neck actually shrinks.

Cheers.

Have been shooting the 300 WM for just a number of years. Winchester featherweight with a break. Than a Burgara HMR-PRO. Both have dropped Elk at very close, far ranges. Targets are 50 yd small bore reduced for 50' shot @100 yds! H-1000, 180 gr SST. LRM primers, all have been my go to for years. One shot, one Kill! Shortest shot aprox75'. Longest, again Aprox 800+ yds. All have been one shot!
