Best 25 caliber to consider on a build.

In order of power 25 creed, 25 prc, 25 SAUM/SS/max anything more than that is just too overbore and of little gain.

But honestly anything that has Lapua or ADG brass I guess starting with the x47L on up. Obviously just necking up/down is my first case choices as are the above. Hence all have sharper shoulders . But after that 243, 3006, 270W, 3006, 6 rem, 6.5x284N.

See no reason to use any parent case with belt not to mention no lapua. All of these has anything you could want in a quarter bore. Improve the cases if you want AI etc but more for better case life and less trimming if anything. You can do a lot with a short action and certainly a medium one or a tikka t3.

It's built on a savage action with a carbon fiber wrapped barrel, 11 degree crown, threaded for brake or can. Only had about 100 rounds through it. And it has a Boyd's salt and pepper stock, that is laminate. I have all the goodies for it as well.
My wife has a Savage 110FP in 223 Rem.
Worst idea ever to chamber a long action in that short of a cartridge.
Chambering a round is a PITA!

Accurate once you get it in, but teally!

For me , the 257 Weatherby. Mag ,in a Weatherby. Mark V rifle ,with a 26 inch. Barrel , sets the standard in out of the box High Velocity 25 cal performance ! I would consider a barrel with a slightly faster twist ,but That would be my Base Line !!! Then all the custom wildcats would have to stand up to that !! You might have to spend a lot of time to possibly / maybe improve on the performance and precision of that off the shelf package ! Ad the Leupold 8.5 X to 25X and have a Blast !! Pun intended !!!

There are a lot of these opinion questions which would benefit from using a poll at the beginning of the original post. A poll gives the members a snapshot of all of the 7 pages (so far) without having to wade through all the verbiage of justifications.

Day late and a dollar short, I know...

;)

Every 3 days or so…I think I need a new cartridge to explore (gotta have a new gun to shoot it in)….so I start checking everything out…

The further I deviate from an old proven factory chambering the higher the voltage of the sticker shock ….$2 brass cases, $1 a bullet and $4 each for loaded ammunition…yikes.

The chamberings and guns I own have been chosen after thorough research…. I know I have it covered but every 3 to 4 days I think…hmmm what about a 25 PRC or …

As much as I like weird things, the 25 CM and 25 PRC seem to make the most sense.

25 souper could be cool to with 308 Palma brass.

Might as well do a 25 SAW Preffered barrel blanks did a remage barrel for me. I have a comp barrel 26" 7.5 twist and a hunting barrel 24" spiral fluted 7.5 twist. 134 eldm around 2750 fps in a mild load. Havent tested it fully yet but fixing to work on my hunting load with black hole bullets 145gr
Awesome, keep me posted. My gunsmith will be testing it with the 145s as soon as he's done with it. Can't wait to see what it will do.

.260 (.264) Lapua Brass Necked down to .25 Souper (.257) only .007 "Squeeze" in Whidden or RCBS MatchMaster FL Bushing Dies!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can go the same way with Lapua Brass 25X284 in 6.5X284 Whidden FL ushing Dies.
