Your Next Rifle Will Be In Which Cartridge

If I could only have one big game rifle it would probably be a .300 either in Win or Weatherby. Its big enough for elk or moose and small enough for deer, sheep and antelope. Flat shooting enough to be able to hold dead on to a decent distance and heavy enough for long range.

I think the .300 WSM deserves more consideration. It has fantastic ballistics and is very capable of kill shots on most North American game, as well as most African plains game. Many rifle makers offer a .300 WSM in a fairly lightweight rifle which is great for hunting in the mountains as well. One rifle, the .300 WSM gets my vote.

I like the 257 and 240 weatherbys. They would have 26" tubes at least, 28-30 if I used a single shot falling block.

Had the 7mmSTW, it was superb, but this time I want to step up the game, so its the .338 Lapua for me with 300 grainers....Shocking knock down power at extended ranges is what i want for those New zealand Chamios and Thar.my son Robbie uses the .300WSM for great results to date.

for curiosity sake ur next poll should be for small game rifles. For me there is nothing like the 300wsm for large game.

30/338 Lapua improved shooting the big HATS with "adjusted" jackets. Astronomical BCs for a lead core bullet!

If Lapua comes out with RUM brass, then change it to a 300 RUM.

My choices are based on the best brass and bullets.

Done Deal

I just got a used Sendero 300 RUM with 20 rounds down the tube. The previous owner shot a qurter sized group @ 350 yds with factory ammo out of it and laso says it's very pleasant to shoot. Just need to get the rail base and rings now to get my NSX mounted on it.

Wil be testing numerous bullets and loads through it to get the best combo.

It's official, I just placed my order today. Remington sendero SF11 in .300 ultra. Next step is to see how it shoots.

Just took delivery on a full custom Edge and have a .257 barrel enroute for a 25-06AI or 25-284. Really want to build something suppressed like a .338 Whisper. Need to find out if the .338 Federal will work well sub-sonic with 300 gr. Matchkings to make it duel purpose.
