I'd have to go with a 300 RUM. There isn't much you couldn't get done with a 200 gr Accubond or Partition at 3200 fps. I think my 589 yd elk from this fall would agree with that if he wasn't in the freezer right now!
That's the beauty of the RUM.
From 100 grain hammers to 250 atips. If you average them all, it'll do it all about as good as it gets. I'm talking real world "push the limit numbers", not book loads.

Len. It may be time to turn my automatic censor on.

338 Norma Magnum. Yeah, I know it is not on the list. I might as well add to the 13 year old thread.
Since you mentioned Norma. I've been payin attention to her lately. Even got a couple hundred new lapua Norma brass. In the 30 cal persuasion. Shortish barreled rum replacement maybe?.

My prior thread was for the purpose of creating the finalist candidates for this poll.

So the question is SPECIFICALLY, if you had to start all over with currently having no big game rifles, in which of these cartridges would you chamber your next big game rifle?
Ahh, another resurrection thread!

None of the above.

Next will probably be a 338-375Rug.

None ,my collection now consist of 5 center-fire x bolt rifles 1 Remington nylon 66 chrome barrel .22 rimfire & 6 browning shotguns

LOL…Yes, that's an old post! But I remember it. I voted 6.5x284 and bought a Cooper shortly after. Been my go-to LR hunter since, with dozen's of deer, antelope, and coyotes to 1188 yards. Has over a 1000 rounds through it, and has been my go-to since. With a some babying, and little luck I'll still be using it a dozen years from now. My next will be a new barrel for that Cooper, same cartridge…..
