Eh why would you pick an old 30-06? I prefer military proven rounds like the 7.62x63mm.My favorite cartridge based off of the 30 06 is the 30 06 !

That's a 475 Ultra Mag, right? What's the MV with the TSX?I like the Gibbs cartridges. He was a little nuts but it takes pioneers to tame the unknown. He pushed the limits and charted a bit of territory for us.
Same thing. Ruger sbh bisley 480. I cut the chambers to linebaugh length but I still use 480 brass for most loads, including the 530gr cast in the pic. View attachment 329522
And the same bullet in my 475rum.
500gr TSX, 530gr BFH, 400gr lee cast

2550 over 110gr h4350 from 24" 1:10" McGowan. It's pretty much the only rifle I carry anymore. Braked, recoil is about like 300wm. The 530gr cast is unbelievably impressive on critters. Like a lightning strike. DRT no matter where they are hit. The shock is amazing and it doesn't just shock on impact like expanding bullets in smaller calibers. Line up 12 gallon jugs of water and it explodes 10 of them. heres the EXIT of 6 shots fired at the other side2of 22" hemlock. That's a 475 Ultra Mag, right? What's the MV with the TSX?
Sell it, I sold my 338WM when I had my 35 Whelen completed, then put together a 35 Whelen AI. Then sold my 35 Whelen AI and bought a model 70 in 338/06. I don't miss the 4 different 338WM rifles I have owned.I'm shooting and reloading 25-06, 6.5-06, .270, 280 AI, 30-06, and 35 Whelen. My current favorite is 280 AI, but maybe because it is my newest and lightest rifle. I still have a spot in the safe for a .338-06, but then what would I do with my .338 Win Mag?
I'm getting just over 2,700fps with a Speer 235gr SP using Benchmark, and just over 2,500fps with the Speer 270gr using H4895 or RE-15.What bullet weights and velocities do you get from the .375?
Looks like you're mostly concentrated on the .264 cartridges. Those are all good cartridges, too. The 6.5-06 is a little less over bore than the 6.5=280AI, and its easy to make from .270 win brass. You might look at that, instead. You can always Ackley Improve it later, if you want. I use .270 brass to make 25-06 just because of availability.I don't own anything 30.06 based but for some reason the 6.5-280AI intrigues me.
I don't know where it would fit in my stable that I don't already have covered though.
- 6.5 Grendel
- 6.5x47 Lapua
- 260 Rem
- 260AI
- 6.5-284 Norma
- 264 Win Mag
Yes. I'm heavily invested in 6.5 caliber cartridges.Looks like you're mostly concentrated on the .264 cartridges. Those are all good cartridges, too. Powder capacity of the 6.5-280 ackley is greater than the standard 6.5-06
