If it was planned that way, it was just plain stupid. (Sorry, have to call a spade a spade)Most dangerous hunt? Alaskan brown bear hunt with a .223 shooting a 77 grain TMK? Would that qualify as a dangerous hunt?

AND they have a wonderful sense of the way home, esp trail horses. For those of you that don't know, horses have incredible night vision.
Sincere thanks for your service, in a thankless war.makeing a late sweep of a long forgotten ridge in 1968 in VN, we knew they were there, but not in what numbers. we ran into them just at dark and a 15-20 minute fire fight started, non of us were hit and i don,t know if any of the VC were as we walked (very fast) back to the firebase. several of us joined the brown shorts club that day.
Absolutely but I would sure like to be the bear for the photo shoot
I wouldGotta admit... even the bear is trying to cop a feel of that ***!!!!
No need to run.Don't know how much danger I was actually in, but...
Back home in Western KS I went squirrel hunting one day at an old mostly dried up pond south of town. I only had my 22lr. After shooting a couple, I saw a large pawprint that was definitely way too big to be a coyote or bobcat. I scanned the area and after about 10 minutes I saw a cougar looking right at me, ears pinned back. I backed away 50 yards, turned tail and ran back to my car.
Interesting enough, I'd heard game wardens saying there were cougar sightings in a town 40 miles away about a week before. Might have been the same cat.
I could have missed it, but I`ve not seen an actual planned hunt for a dangerous animal such as an Alaskan brown bear, just proponents of the .223/77grain TMK saying that it`s doable. Mostly it`s stated that indigenous Alaskan people regularly kill bears with a .223.If it was planned that way, it was just plain stupid. (Sorry, have to call a spade a spade)
They're better and braver hunters than I am, for sure.I could have missed it, but I`ve not seen an actual planned hunt for a dangerous animal such as an Alaskan brown bear, just proponents of the .223/77grain TMK saying that it`s doable. Didn't know that at the time. I was probably 17No need to run.
Not just Alaska. Some of the Inuits hunt the great bears (the white ones) in Greenland with .22s and .223s since that is all they have and can afford/get ammo for. Once heard a story from a Force Recon Marine that did survival training there and their unit had an Inuit guide that carried a .22. Guide said "the .22 rifle had been in his family since the late 1800s". Marine LT asked "what it was used for?", Inuit said "anything including the Great Bears". Marine asked "how well it worked on the Polars?". Inuit said "if you shoot them up the nose, thru an eye or ear it works well. Marine asked "and if you miss?" Inuit with all honesty said "then the rifle goes to the next person in the family and this one has been handed along several times". That would have to be a scary hunt/situation.I could have missed it, but I`ve not seen an actual planned hunt for a dangerous animal such as an Alaskan brown bear, just proponents of the .223/77grain TMK saying that it`s doable. I skipped a bunch of the bad parts .Its a miricle i lived through all that crap and alot more i didnt even tell yet .I had a radio to keep brears away and a huge fire as soon as radio went out after 8 dayz bears tried to get into the tent many timed .I hsd a huge fire also and as soon as it was put out by snow then brears were not afraid to come on in .That tent calasped from snow many times and had over 200 burn holes in it from the bear fire .I am not kiddimg every tree was grizzley clawed .The plane that got me out almost crashed serveral times .I stayed in alaska 12 yeara after that and the girlfriend that stole $92000 off my credit cards and set up that hunt that waa supose to be my last ever It made me by a 416 rem mag for bears and not ever ger dumped off by myself again .I had anothrt gal wamt tp dump me off for a goat hunt on a glacier after that i said no way .Yep it was one of the toughtest things i ever went through in my life .I had two bad advebtures with another friend and we both could have easily died from the crap we went through .I had to pull him in the zodiak in totally water logged waiters thatbmust have had 200 pounds of water in plus other dangers .The other time we got stuck at -30 15 miles out and he had no shovels chains or any way to get us unstuckHow am I supposed to tell my story after that one?
Bro, that's a movie script!
I didnt figure it all out about the gal i was datimg till later she stole $85000 from her best friend after sge did that to me .She got csught and only served 6 weeks in halfway house .She was high up in govt where i.lived so no trouble .The guy that flew me had a brain tumor died like 8 months after flying me .He didnt even kniw i was left for dead it was his boss that hsd it set up with my old fg that teamed up with my old gf .She thought she saw a ghost when i walked into her office when i got back from that hunt .It was totally crazy like a super bad dream .The cops wouldnt touch him or her because they knew them in my case .A famous outfitter i know got left up there by outfitter too .I still ll feel lucky becauss i was supose to fly with the owner of another flyimg service and that guy crashed and everyone on that plane died .So, the remaining time you stayed in Alaska, based on ratios should've been "uneventful" to say the least. I'd like to know if you know what happened to old "Bonnie and Clyde" that left you out there, if you don't mind telling us.
