With the better ammo these days the .380 is still inadequate. Several years ago I had a Glock 42 that I played around with. One cold rainy afternoon I got a call from my local farmer friend. She said there was a big raccoon outside her back door that appeared to be rabid and could I come over and dispense with it so her dogs would quiet down. I was in my truck at the time and had the G42 with me with the newest and greatest Lehigh extreme defense ammo in it. To make a long story short, 5 shots into the raccoon at 20 feet and it was still alive. (yes they all hit, I could see the fur tuft when the bullets hit in the body.) The wonderful defense ammo zipped right through without any expansion. Went back to the truck and got a magazine of Sig Sauer 90 gr hollow points and 1 shot did the trick. After I disposed of the dead raccoon I dug up one of the Lehigh bullets. There was blood on it and exactly no change in the segments that were supposed to be so deadly. Last 380 that I owned and last time I used Lehigh ammo.Seems like a lot of hate the last couple pages towards the 380. Yes the newer 9's are close in size but I purchased my 380 LCP years ago when if you wanted small you went 380.. With today's self defense ammo the 380 is a much better performer.
