What should I build in 270 cal ?

I have decided I'm going build a fast twist 270 something not sure which one to go with.
I can get my hands on a 1-8 twist benchmark spiral fluted # 4.
I'm thinking I'd like to go 27 nosler and shoot 170 elites or go with a 270 WBY which I have lots of brass for or a 270 wsm which I have everything to load for also.
it will be built on a Fierce Rival that is currently a 7Rem.
I do like horsepower so will probably go 27 nosler but would like to here some opinions on what you'd do.
thanks Guys
270 Winchester shooting a 1:9 twist, Hart barrel, chambered with our custom 270Win reamers with a longer throat and more slopped leade for use with long bullets
- the 1k shot was with factory ammo Nosler 130g

I really like my 270wsm and am getting ready to change the barrel to a faster twist so I can run the 170's. I tried them in the 10 twist and it was not worth the powder and lead I wasted. I only loaded 10 of them just out of curiosity. Speed was 2825 with a 24" barrel and RL26

I LIKE, light weight, Sub 8 Pound, "Hunting", Rifles.
I HATE, too much,.. Recoil as, I like to PRACTICE, Field Positions on, Steel Plates.
I WON'T USE, a Brake on an,.. Elk , Moose or, Deer Rifle ( I may NOT have Time or, Forget,.. Plug, use ! )
I LOVE,.. Lazer like, Velocity and "Accuracy" ! NO need, to Dial the Scope,.. til' PAST, 350 Yards !
I LIKE, the .270 WSM with, 140 grain Bullets ( getting 1/2 MOA, using, 140 Bergers at, 3,185 FPS, now )
ALL wrapped up, in a Light weight, 7 lb., 10 ounce ( all up ), 1-10 twist, TIKKA T-3, SS,.. Rifle !
The Fast Twist and 170 EOL's is NICE but, has, MORE,.. Recoil !
And of your "Choices", the .270 WSM is easier on Barrels than,.. the others !
You like light but hate recoil and won't use a break. Lots of paradigms an incompatible logic there my friend.
Weight is your friend when it comes to reducing recoil - even if you do hump miles through the woods or mountains- which honestly most people don't.
8 vs 12lb is not that big of a difference when hiking 10-20miles. You will be tired no matter what so doesn't make a difference as long as you carry properly and get in shape.
Brakes reduce recoil so if you hate recoil use a brake.
This is all simple physics - drop the bad logic use what works. This is not a criticism really but I've heard this argument before and it seems any suggestions fall on deaf ears - maybe it will be different for his time

I read these posts about rifle builds, but oftentimes what the build is going to be used for seems to be left out. What's the plan for this rifle!"

What's the plan for this build?? What are you going to do with it?

+1 for 270 Wby. As with some others, I'm shooting 140gr with a 10 twist.
I have two rifles in 270 Wby - a right-handed Ruger (rebarreled at 26", bedded, etc.) and a left-handed Remington KS Mtn rifle (24" barrel). Minimal load development required for each rifle.
Good luck with your project.

27 Nosler would burn a heck of a lot of powder and be the fastest. Standard dies, available brass

270 WSM is a nice choice. Speed and standard Dies/brass

270 Sherman would be a great long action. I would do this if I did another long action std Sherman. A little more on dies, but brass is std.

270 WSM long….I think it would be fun to build a 270 WSM that fits 2.98" mags with a long VLD 0.010" off the lands!!! Just need a throating reamer.

270 Weatherby is fine, but what value do you gain with more expensive brass?

Really??Do you mountain hunt often?Hiking 10-20 miles in the Mountains is not the same as flat land.JMHO Huntz

Many good recommendations here. How about a 6.8 Western or .277 Fury?

I HAVE my "reasons" for doing, EXACTLY what, I've stated and TRY to Enlighten the Younger Generation with WHAT, I've learned.
You "can" actually can LEARN, a few things after, 60 Years of, Big Game Hunting ( at least some do, anyway ).
My 7 lb, 10 ounce .270 WSM Tikka, shoots Sub 1/2 MOA with, the 140 Bergers traveling at 3,185 FPS and is plenty of Power as, the Bullet IS still going OVER, 2,000 FPS at, 800 Yards AND, the Elk I've shot with, IT are, just as Dead as those, shot with, my .338 WM !
In the Western Mountains of, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Idaho,.. I'll GLADLY carry, a SUB 8 Pound Rifle over, a 12 Pounder, ANY Day of, the Week, as I'm usually, Packing out some Meat, AFTER making, a Kill in those, Mountains ! Hope you ENJOY carrying your, 12 Pound, "Target Cannon" and yup, IT's, a Beauty ! Good luck !
My Rifle & Cartridge ,.."Works" SUPER, for,.. ME !
