Im curious did you actually read the article ? Obviously not, its just easier to bitch and moan and call everyone an idiot, I will give you credit for one thing, you are consistent in your rants...........
Yes, I did. But those with comprehension issues are only going to read "The 6.5CM is a 1 mile rifle"... And then the rumors start.

No, Mud is not wrong. The 6.5CM is a good cartridge, but there are folks claiming it is more than it really is. There are folks that say it is a 1000 yd elk cartridge, and more powerful than a 300 mag @ 1000 yds. Neither are true. It is possible to kill an elk with it that far. This does not make it suitable. It is possible to shoot it accurately at a mile under the right conditions with the right bullet. That does not make it a mile cartridge. If it was, there would be little need for the big .375's and up for ELR. It suffers the same issues as the .308WIN @ 1000. Most bullets will go transonic before they get there. Enjoy it for what it is; a good long range target cartridge, and a decent mid range hunting cartridge.

Yes
I guess I dont follow what that means? I guess mine isnt necessarily a traditional range because I shoot on private land if that's what you mean?

Yes, exactly. If you want to shoot that far around here, you have to know someone who has land that will allow you to do so.

Glad someone gets what I'm saying without getting all butthurt and letting personal feelings and bias into their reply.

You're correct. As much as I love the .308 Win, it's not a mile cartridge. Can it shoot that far? Absolutely, with the right factors and bullets/ammo. Is it ideal for shooting that far? Nope.

I dont think anyone here is saying the 6.5 cm is a mile cartridge nor did the writer of that article so I'm not sure why you had to go off on a rant about it? Because you assumed people have "reading comprehension problems"?

My rant is not about the cartridge. It's about how idiots are going to read that article, then proudly proclaim it to be something it's not, and more magical rumors will get started.

There's a lot of "expert" advice here, I should take notes! I think that anyone who's shot enough different chamberings will start to see patterns in which ones shot the best. I've shot more 6mm, 6.5mm 7mm, 338 and 375 caliber guns than all the other bore diameters combined. For each bore diameter I've found specific chamberings which will consistently out shoot others with the same bore diameter.

Take 9 different guns, built by 3 different smiths in 3 different chamberings. All are built using the same components (action, barrel, chassis) with the only difference being the 3 cartridges they were chambered for. Now put these in the hands of a variety of capable shooters and see what the results are at 1000 yards. We did this with 243 Win, 6x47 Lapua and 6BRA rifles. This single experiment isn't enough to definitively prove anything, but after roughly 10,000 rounds fired we collected enough data to reaffirm what we already believed to be true. Some case designs consistently shoot with a greater level of precision than others.

Everyone is free to interpret the available data however they'd like. Or they can just go out and gather their own data and build off of that. This thread (and LRH in general lately) makes me think of two of my favorite expressions:

- Facts are relative, but the truth is absolute.
- Your perspective dictates your perception.

The facts that you "know" to be true, aren't necessarily the truth. You just believe that they're true because of how you're choosing to see them.
