I am more than likely to go with X-caliber when one of my ARs is due for a re-barrel.You ROCK, brother!

X-Caliber is what my gunsmith uses for ALL his AR work…..unless the customer specifically chooses another maker. He's a retired Marine Master Sgt with plenty of experience with the platform.I am more than likely to go with X-caliber when one of my ARs is due for a re-barrel.

Good sleuthing, especially with the Grendel forum hacked or messed up like its been. Sounds like you will have to decide if you want to continue using the BTHP option. It did group the best for you too.@Koda_
American Gunner rebranded as Hornady 123gr BTHP Black ? - 6.5 Grendel Forum : : For the 6.5 Grendel Aficionado
I noticed tonight that Academy has Hornady 123gr Black listed as BTHP. Just wondering if it is just a rebranded American Gunner for Academy stores. Anyone else notice this?www.65grendel.com
Like you, I cannot find what I have anywhere on Hornady's site. I bet they're phasing the BTHP out completely….
Yep….it's a GREAT powder for the 6.5 Grendel, but I use it for smokeless muzzleloader applications. I kinda got OUT of hand-loading for CF cartridges when I discovered how accurate SML's can be. I may get back into it at some point…..I hear your 8208 XBR is a good powder in the Grendel..... Get a load development over with and call it good.
I wanted to try the XBR but its been unobtainium, I did end up with a good respectable load for my Grendel though. Im not really into hand-laoding as a hobby just want a hunting load recipe for each rifle.Yep….it's a GREAT powder for the 6.5 Grendel, but I use it for smokeless muzzleloader applications. 300+ at over 3000fps... that is some power. I did not know muzzleloaders cranked out that kind of power. It's a TON of fun to launch 300-325 grain bullets at 3,000 & 3,100 fps respectively. It's even more fun to watch them group into a half minute (or better) at 400+ yards!
I have not…..the SST's shot like #!*#! from my barrel anyways. Your load with the ELDM's looks great!has anyone used the 123 SST on deer sized game?
I was pleased. Just a load that I threw together to test gun after build. Shot 3 groups like that sighting in. Decided to go with it. I'm not sure it will work on game,so am going to try SST. Right now in process of moving. Should think about building ark for moving van.I have not…..the SST's shot like #!*#! from my barrel anyways. Your load with the ELDM's looks great!
I can finally answer your thread query: Tell me what you seeWell, I broke down and bought some handloading stuff for this Grendel. I'm glad I did. Ended up developing a couple loads for it. One was using Benchmark powder and Speer 120gr Gold Dots….

The other load (my favorite) is with H4895 and Sierra 120gr Pro Hunters. Can't really ask any more than this from the rifle…
