My 101 20-ga. 28" Pigeon is still my go-to gun, too. Very light so it is quick to birds. I had the chokes opened to IC/Mod.

I've owned this SxS for about 30 years. Year, 1898 Purdey self-opener, re-barreled by Purdey in 1972. Weighs 6.5#, 28" barrels choked .005"/.010". It is a superb shooter and has performed since I bought it without a hitch for 1000's of rounds.

One of the greatest shots in history, Lord Ripon, used SxS with hammers exclusively, and had a lifetime average over 70% kill rate. He once had 7 pheasants dead in the air, meaning #7 was shot before #1 hit the ground. In case you think that is a lot of "#2", they always hunted in large parties with many witnesses and kept meticulous records or their bags.

I shot Sporting Clays with some Very Good shooters! The best I have ever been beaten by is a guy named George Digweed from England he shoots a MX Perazzi and
can break targets in the air at over 100 yards. We shot in Plantation Fl. at a really upscale club! George was 19 time World Champion?
