Staball Powder

You guys aren't giving me much encouragement that It will do what they say but I am committed to try.

I have always said their is no such thing as a free ride and this may be a good example of that. Ball powders have always been heat sensitive and I had hoped they had found a cure.

I will post my results, good or bad.

I was really excited about it too, I really hope you find some use for it

I have 8 pounds because I rarely buy anything other than 8s now. I am hoping it can used somewhere even if it's through my M1A.

You are a guru or sensei or something like that. If anyone can make it work, it might be you. A friend of mine who has worked at Dillon Precision forever is going to try also. If he has success, I'll try to steal his data.

Used it in my custom Kimber 7/08 ( 24" barrel). Worked up to 50 grs and got a velocity of 3012 ft/sec with moa accuracy. As was mentioned it spikes pretty fast. 50 grs was really good but 51 showed pressure. Another powder I tried at the same time was H-100V. Worked real good, I would say better than StaBall. I worked up to 49 grs and got 2992 ft/sec and .75 MOA. All these loads used the 145 Speer SBT, with CCI-250 primers in Hornady cases. JME

I bought 5 lbs to try with my 7 MAX and light mono's. I did a bunch of research thinking it would be less temp sensitive than H100v that had a very similar burn rate. I have not tried it but I know it doesn't shine until near max load/100% density. Dunno if that helps anybody or not. But I also bought 8 lbs of N550 as well since I was not totally confident in a few internet opinions. 😅 I'm excited to see your results though.

I'd be interested to know what it did and didn't work in for you.
I know in one rifle it ran even with h4350 so we chose the 4350. I think another the rifle just didn't like it. No diff than any other powder. Haven't had a chance to use it in a creed yet but will next time we get one.

Looking at Hodgdon data, it really shines in some combos. Kinda like Superformance. Kind of a narrow lane.

I have 2 lbs and a 6.5x55, 300wsm....should I try it, or would somebody else like it? I see minimal value in trying it right now. H4831 and r26 making me happy now!

I could never get anywhere close to the advertised velocity numbers

I am using Staball in my 30-06 with 212 ELD's for 2720 FPS. I have been shooting it at 90+ out here in eastern Virginia without a hiccup. I am using Lapua brass and BR2's with it. So far it has been very accurate and not a darn issue out of the rifle. I haven't tried it in much else, but so far, I am very happy with it.

Looking forward to trying it out in my 7-08, seems to look like a good one for that cartridge.
