Side Arm for Grizzly Country

We hunt the Thorofare in Wyoming. I carry either my glock 20 or my ruger alaskan in 454. 200 grain hard cast for the 10mm and 350 grain hard cast for the 454. I use a chest rig so that the pistol is always available even while quartering an animal.
Awesome country, plenty of bears in that country !

What would be GEMANE is for people who have never killed any large, nasty animals with a handgun is to leave the thread to those that have.

No one forcing you to read this Thread.
I see no one asking you to referee it. Has Len asked you to moderate this Thread? To control the posts to suit your fancy and preference?

I can't help watching people who have never seen a bear in the wild offer up advice.
You of all people would qualify as one of those - Your statement of " riding in the highest populated grizzly country in the lower 48 for 22 yrs. and having never even seen one " in one of your earlier posts would lead me to believe you are just a "poser". You need to move on unless you have something credible to contribute to this thread, so far I have seen nothing but hogwash. As I stated before in a post - do the due diligence required for legitimacy.

Hmmm? Well, I never killed a bear with a handgun or anything else and hope I never have to do it in defense of life or property. But, if I do have to I will be carrying my 22 yr old Raging Bull 444 in my new Slade Saddlery drop loop holster hanging from my 60 year old George Lawrence gun belt that my uncle wore daily in 'Nam. It hangs in a very fast position afoot or horseback. I don't see why it would be any slower from a kneeling position. Like everyone else, I just need to keep practicing.

At least they're offering something up...
The thing we need to keep in mind with gbaker 1960 is he " spent 22 yrs riding in the highest grizzly bear density and never even seen one " according to his previous post. I guess he is an authority on grizzly behavior due to the fact that he has never seen one. His credibility went out the window a long time ago.

Thanks for the post, it is nice to see an account of the attack and pictures as well from someone whom I believe is a credible source.

Warning! This thread is more than 4 years ago old.
It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
