Advice for carrying side arm while deer hunting

My buddies carry a thigh holster supported by the waist belt and thigh straps. It's a pretty good way of clearing bino packs and back packs.
My experience with a thigh holster is this; not for use with a lot of walking or running. Was issued them years back going into Iraq. Great idea at first but everyone ditched them quickly after the first time you had to move any distance.

Just a standard kydex open top belt holster for me . Fits my g20sf 10mm . Here in az you never know what's around when your hunting . Here's a sow and two cubs from my turkey hunt . They came in from behind my blind at 10 yds . The picture is at 23 yds with my 10mm in my hand . The holster is made by rounded .

I carried a 629 .44 Mag in a Denali Chest holster in WY for an elk hunt. I wore it low left of my bino harness and it cleared my large pack back. Buddy had a 10 mm under his bino harness and lost a clip when he pressed the mag release when bent over traversing deadfalls. All the guides (and him later) put a narrow strip of tape under the mag and up the grip sides to hold it in.

A couple years ago there were several instances around here were 2or 3 guys would be waiting at hunters trucks and actually have the gonad's to rob them at gun point. Not sure how it turned out but they did get caught.
One reason why I now don't put stickers on my rigs like "KUIU" , YETI, SWAROVSKI, etc.
I will put instead things like RMEF , SPORTSMEN'S ALLIANCE, f4wm, etc.
That being said I conceal carry pretty much 24/7 as long as I am legal to with my permits and not generally while at home.
Only difference when in the woods is that my weapon is generally larger and not concealed.

I do the same thing with the tape!
Just be carefull not to push up on the mag too much as some pistols don't operate well with the mag pushed up tight.

Respectfully, It's not perspective it's reality. As i stated, I don't hunt where people go. Never had an issue nobody I know has ever had an issue where a pistol would have saved them from another person while hunting. I'd actually be willing to bet that there's more people who need a pistol for protection (while hunting) against wildlife than those who have ever needed one for protection against another person.
Well, anyone that might question the necessity or wisdom of carrying a firearm in the back country, whether it be for protection against two or four legged predators, should ask Timothy Treadwell. Oh. Wait……never mind!

I personally carry two different handguns two different ways (not at the same time). I'll carry my 10mm in a Razco chest holster attached to my binoculars, this is during archery. may be a little late to get one from him for this year. Any other time I carry my 329PD (it's important because this gun is light and I don't think I'd carry a 4+ lb gun like this) in a pack belt holster, again made by Razco. There are other options like Gun Fighters Inc, and there's a newer one that I've been seen ads for lately too.

I'm not sure if anyone has actually questioned the necessity of carrying one at all in this thread.

Yeah, I have lived in N. Idaho my entire life and I don't even know what he is talking about.
How about Christ Church buying up half of Moscow, and spreading into Troy, trying to turn the whole place into a "Christian Town" that is separate from the state and above local laws? That last part was from the mouth of Doug Wilson, the leader of Christ Church, by the way.
