6mm ARC powder… Leverevolution?

Small update:

87gr Absolute Hammer
Leverevolution
32.0gr 2930fps
32.3gr 2962fps
32.6gr 2966fps
32.9gr 3012fps

No pressure yet.

No groups on the above just a velocity ladder. Going to test a middle of the road load with Benchmark to see how it groups (probably the best temp stable powder I have on-hand and can get more of).

Could try out X-Terminator, as I hear it is fairly temp stable?? and gives a good fill-rate if I run out of case capacity with Benchmark.

I wonder if a faster powder would give you better velocity. Have you chatted with Steve at all about his suggestions?
I'd be curious to hear his thoughts on RL15, Pro Varmint, AR Comp, or N135. Seems they're all known for pushing bullets fast.

With the absolutes, I'd guess anything on up to H322 on the burn rate chart could have potential to touch the magic burn rate that many find with the AH's (that results 100+fps over conventional bullets in the same range).

Of course I also never found a magic powder combo with the 139 AH's out of my 270 win that would compete with RL 26 so...

This is the kids gun though, so anything pushing that little 87gr AH over 2900 is great for its intended uses. The plan remains pretty simple: test Lever (because I had load data from the Hammer forum) and do some limited testing with more temp stable powders to see if I can get lucky and land one with similar speeds to Lever (edit: and resonable accuracy of course :D)

Was able to get good grouping with Leverevolution. Didn't get the speed but here's the data from it.

I'll include some updates on the chance that it helps someone else along their journey:

(Howa mini, 20" factory heavy barrel, Alpah brass, Diligent Defense sTi suppressor)

All loads crimped with 1/8 turn using Lee FCD.

Ammo and gun temps kept between 50-60 deg F in all tests.

87gr Absolue Hammer
Quick pressure/velocity ladder with Benchmark:
CCI 450 primer
  • 27.5gr 2752fps
  • 28.0gr 2815fps
  • 28.5gr 2897fps (very slight ejector "rub" not a full swipe)
  • 29.0gr 2950fps (slight ejector swipe)
  • 29.5gr 2984fps ejector swip
Rem 7.5 Primer
  • 29.0gr 2923fps Cratered primer + Ejectory swipe
Fed GM205MAR primer
  • 29.0gr 2940fps Slight ejectory swipe (similar to CCI 450)

5 round groups with CCI 450s:
  • 32.9 gr Lever: ~1.3 MOA, 2950ish fps avg, 50fps lower than during ladder?
  • 29.5 gr Bencmark: ~1.1 MOA, 2850 fps, again, 50fps lower than during ladder
Mini pressure ladder X-Terminator (CCI 450)
  • 28.0gr 2685 fps
  • 29.5gr 2840fps
  • 30.0gr 2886fps Ejector swipe
80gr Hammer Hunter:

Benchmark
CCI 450:
  • 28.0gr 2884fps
  • 28.5gr 2992fps Ejector swipe
Fed GM205MAR primer
  • 28.0gr 2911fps Light ejector swipe
Leverevolution
  • 31.5gr 3021fps Ejector swipe
Notes:
  • The ejector swipes mentioend above still look like I have a little bit of a burr on the ejector cut-out. There isn't enough of an edge on the ejector marks to catch anything on, BUT pressure is obviously there, hence why I stop when I see that behavior. Cratering the (what I assume is) softer Rem 7.5 primer helps confirm approaching real pressure.
  • Will shoot another group of 87gr AH's with Lever @ 32.9gr with different primers to see if it tightens up
  • Will shoot a group of 80gr HH's at 28gr of Benchmark to see if it groups.
