I am not sure where this turned south towards me. In any case I don't care. I made zero negative comments about the case, we know nothing about, Rich proposed. I am assuming it went south when I said good luck to those wanting 3050 out of 195s in a SAUM sized case.

it went south as it always does when you called it out for what it is as the BS meter pegged and you wanted the brakes pumped! not talking crap or pointing fingers just wanted realistic data proven not hyped numbers.

Using brass as a pressure indicator is wrong in so many ways. For years I did this and only when I purchased an Oehler 43 PBL and actually measured the pressures did I realize hoe wrong this method is. Velocity = pressure

Exactly!! and using harder and harder brass to get the velocity you wish is even worse!

THERE IS NO PRESSURE DATA!!
Id be wiling to bet that most of the people on this forum have loaded saami cases above the maunuals.
That includes the gotcha guys

Why not just purchase Quickdesign program and use it with Quickload? This would get you to the end result with minimal powder burnt.

I'll stay out of the argument about the new case of Rich's and whether it will or won't meet the numbers he stated and if so at what pressures. But thinking Quick Design and Quickload spit out accurate numbers is not a safe bet. There are multiple inputs that need adjusted to get Quickload to reflect real world data. It will give you a fair guess but isn't the be all end all due to things that can't be accounted for with out tweaking it off of real world data from shooting.

Im looking at building a SS in 7 or 30. Im not one looking for max speed from anything. My thoughts are decide on a targeted velocity, bullet weight and barrel length, then pick a cartridge that will get you there well before max charge withOut using the hottest powder. This will ensure you reach your goals safely and without disappointment.

I like wildcats and I like Riches designs for reasons beyond just speed.

People like Rich, Allen, Ackley and others give us greater options and performance which for many of us is what drew us to custom rifles.

We are in agreement that Quickload can be very accurate once adjusted. I too have used various strain gauge systems to determine chamber pressure and pressure under the curve for various rifles and loads. I guess more what I was getting at is there are too many gun and load specific variables that can have an impact on the data for a manufacturer or cartridge designer to base their recommended load data on this software alone.

I usually post the top speed with the best powder to get there with and also recommend that that is not the best place to run it. I, and most others normally run 50-100' below that. The end result is people get more performance than a comparable capacity with lower pressure and better barrel life.

Couldn't have been better timing for me.
After having a 300 WSM a few years ago,
I was considering options for a mid length action, short barrel 30 cal.build.
Not a lot of options out there.
300 WSM, 300 MAX.
Running 215 Berger's & 199 Hammers. Considering the velocity requirements & shot distance for each bullet,
the 300 MEGA is more than capable.
It's great to have this option.
Hope it works out well, & we get the opportunity to choose.
