Phil Phil Phil, efficiency and Barrel longevity. I couldn't care less, Not me just screaming bullets and smacking animals near to far, it's in range of the king 6.5-300wby. Barrel life is longer than I will live at 55 years old. It's a killer not a Prarie dog, PRS gun. Just a game killer extraordinaire.
With saying all that I do love the case of the Mega.
I'm wondering how fast a Berger Hybrid can be launched with predictable results.?
Barrel life isn't a real concern for me either.
But I do value somewhat well behaved cartridge designs.
Unlike my Dad who uses a 257STW 10tw and 100gr TTSX. But he's animals only. I shoot more than he does, except July and August usually, anyhow.
The one other 6.5 Mega I've heard about shot 156 EH at a comfortable 3250+ and "hit an 8" plate at will at 1100yds" as I recall. Serious medicine from any angle.

That's smoking if true which i have some doubts, unless they are hitting huge pressures. I am working on my 6.5x300 with 153.5 and am at 3250+ with zero pressure. I finished up an additional ladder due to no pressure. Cant wait to see where she goes.
I am enjoying the 6.5 's more than I thought I would.

Great looking build, I'm a huge fan of the 6.5mm.
I have a 6.5-300WSM (Pronghorn) and mine is a 9 twist, so, 150g class is outta the question in that. Same goes for 2 264WM factory rifles.
I also have 8" twists in 6.5x47 (2), 264WM & 6.5-300 Weatherby.
How much powder volume increase is there with the 6.5 Mega case?
I am intrigued.
I have reached 3250+fps with both 142g/150g ABLR and 156g Berger in my custom 264WM based on the A191 reamer and custom throat/leade of my design 29.5" barrel, these are mild loads though.
My 6.5-300 Weatherby has a 30" barrel, so I expect 3400+fps with 156's/150's.

I have witnessed said 6.5Mega, as it belongs to a shooting buddy of mine. It is flat nasty. 28" barrel I think, but could be a 26".

Is the Mega tapered more base to shoulder than WSM? This longer neck and AI shoulder/datum can be achieved with 300 WSM brass?Great looking rifle....Derek ain't a bad dude for wearing overalls 24/7.

The WSM brass will end up .070 short, as per Rich Sherman, and I'm sure he removed all the taper possible from the body.
