Sherman light (not for drinking)

Rich what elevation you at? I took the plunge and have some new dies coming to bring back the 175s with some wild profile but they'll be 1.550 long, I wont even suggest a BC, but it should impress.

.270??
Bearing surface length??

Woo! That is good news. I may have to call Brux and tell them to up the twist a tad. I told them to build an 8.5 but I will probably need a full 8. I am at about 4200' here in the flat but I sometimes hunt 2500' in Idaho. When will you have some? That must be a **&&&% caliber nose!:D.......Rich

One more piece in the puzzle. I called Lone Peak today and they are going to nitride the bolt. He said it will make the action "slick as snot"! I may nitride the barrel now too. It should look good with the titanium and black........Rich

Thought the thread was fer a 27 Sherman tho. Soon as the dies get here I'll send
some samples for field trials.
I probably shouldn't have said anything but it will happen... I hope

I am glad you mentioned it because I will make sure I have enough twist; also enough throat. If that bullet is similar to the 183 sierra, you HAVE to be 700+ b.c.

You're killing me marshal... I have a 270 ss and 270 sherman already built and awaiting your new 175 now!
Good choice on speeding up your twist by the news that marshal dropped! I'm really really regretting that i didnt go all out on my ss build and get the titanium action.

Actually, I don't know that I do need to speed up the twist now. I ran the #'s on Bergers site and came up with 1.67 at 2500' with an 8 1/2 twist. This is about as low as I would hunt, and most of the time I would be 4000'+.

Now is the time to do it while you have the chance. Might need it down the road.

Maybe this has been answered but how does the 270 ss compare with the wsm or other 270 cartridges or is the benefit more in barrel life. I am very intrested in the Sherman shorts and would like info to pick one for my next build.

Thats awesome news, Now I gotta call Kiff and proceed with a reamer for the 270 LRH, had shelved it for the past year but the new Berger bullet got the itch going, a 175 sounds cool, plus Dale Janzen at Chinchaga bullets is making the 150 and 160 gr RBT ULD Steel Tip bullets and I'm sure he can crank some 170's out
any idea on length from base to start of ogive ?
