Sherman light (not for drinking)

One of the guys who just built one on a carbon fiber shot one hole while fire forming with 53 grs. of H4831 and a 140 A-Max. I believe the velocity was 2870? This was with the 6.5 for others benefit.......Rich

You might try reducing the charge a little more if you want velocity even lower but I don't know if I would go much below 50 grains? There have been cases where not enough slow powder can be as bad "or worse" than not enough. You can get a secondary explosion that really spikes pressure! You might try some powders in the 4064, or 4895 range too. It would be nice for someone to develop some low pressure (kid) loads. If I get time, I may work on that. I have used 4198 in several of my rifles to test bullet expansion at low velocities, but mostly in the 1200-2000 fps range. Trial boss has been used for reduced loads, because it fills the case up, but I don't think you can get velocities in the range you are looking for. Again, BE CAREFUL when you are messing with reduced loads.

Not to put a damper on this but what does she want??
Recoil matter??
As stated earlier shooting a lightweight rifle accuratly takes practice. Not to slam her skills. Just saying it might be a important factor to consider.

Well, maybe she won't use it much!:D

Here's a teaser for you Rich...

Well my vote is for the 7ss with 180's

If the 170's are as troubled as the 195's it might not be a winner as most think.
Unless you tweak the tips.
Not to disrupt the thread mojo.

Same story. Pencil caliber size pass through.
2 out 3 animals in the vitals.

All I've heard is they may open a touch to easy, Broz killed god know how many elk with them this season and they aren't exiting till they get some range which is about perfect.

What range, what velocity, what SHOOTER, what else?

578. 7/338 Lapua improved 3325 fps at muzzle.
789. 7/338 Norma mag. 3158 at muzzle.
Above two shooters are VERY good shooters/hunters.
Both shooters will never use Bergers again. Or at least until they correct this. Both have had previous bad experiences with them.
Both are competitor shooters and use Bergers for comp.
