Scythe issues?

Hey guys. Over on Rokslide there is a thread going where people are talking about some issues with the Scythe. Mainly weld fails. Anyone here have that issue or some other failure? Little nervous now that I ordered one. Some failures with 22" 300 PRC or 20" 280ai. As a couple examples. I'm going to be using mine with a 24" 300prc and a couple smaller calibers. 17.5" will be the shortest in 7mm08. And an 18" 6.5CM.

Other than getting it extremely hot( which all TI cans have warnings on) , must have been made on Fri..
I'm sure they'll fix it.

I seen one, while I was on the hunt for another brand. I had to pass on it, it wasn't exactly what I was wanting.

I've got one and have had zero issues with it. I have 14 other cans and have zero issues with any of them. The Scythe has been on 7 PRC with a 20" barrel and on 6.5 Grendel and 6mm ARC so far.

Titanium cans need to kept under 800 degrees F in atmosphere or your risk embrittlement of the material which leads to failure of the material.
It's not a heat issue unless they are heating in a single shot or two….which I've never experienced. (Not saying it would hold together ripping 30 on a AR either though…that's just not what's happening in the RS failures).

It's a short barrel high power cartridge issue. There's definitely a trend on the 15 or so that have reported failures. Seems to be about 20" and magnums.

That's what is making me nervous. One of the main guns I want it for is a 300prc. 24". For me the suppressor checked the boxes. Mainly being short. But at only 6.1" including a brake I thought it would be a great fit to keeping a longer barreled rifle a little shorter with a can vs my nomad LTi. And it is advertised as No barrel restrictions. So I figured great no worries with anything I'll shoot through it. But apparently it might not be the case. Wish I would have seen all of these before ordering. Seems the issues are random no matter the serial number. Hoping it was the case with earlier ones but from the thread it's all over. My serial is 18xxx. Fingers crossed I got a good one.

While not a Scythe, I had the identical issue with a SilencerCo Harvester Evo last year. Was shooting a 22" 6.8 Western with N570. So I think it's definitely a shorter barrel/higher power cartridge problem. To their credit they handled it very well. The notes in the paperwork mentioned all new baffles and reinforced welds, looks brand new again.

I'm "guessing" you'll be ok at 24". There's a big difference in that last 4". I can't recall seeing one on that long of a barrel, but if you're worried you can skim the data. Folks are listing barrel length and rounds fired. It's pretty helpful.

Were you one of the guys on the Rokslide thread? With what you said it sounds like one of the failure stories mentioned there.
