Scythe issues?

I'm "guessing" you'll be ok at 24". There's a big difference in that last 4". I can't recall seeing one on that long of a barrel, but if you're worried you can skim the data. Folks are listing barrel length and rounds fired. It's pretty helpful.
Ya I noticed that. But still for a can listed as no barrel restrictions and they're blowing up with 20-22" barrels is a little ridiculous. Obviously they'll have to address this and change the rating with restrictions. I was honestly trying to figure out how they didn't have restrictions being titanium. And rated up to 300RUM for that matter.

So I went on the Silencerco site and did online chat. Asked about the weld fail issues and if it was becoming a common issue. Here's the rest of the short conversation:

SC: We've seen it happen but it is not a manufacturing issue. Most cases are people straying away from barrel length requirements or getting the silencer too hot on prior range trips by going beyond the recommended firing schedule which can weaken the titanium

SC: One example is someone running it on an AR-15 and mag dumping, then putting it on a high pressure rifle such as a 300 WM right after

ME: Ok. But what is the barrel length recommendation for a 300 PRC? It says no restrictions. I'll never shoot a magnum through it 20" and under anyway.

SC: You'll be perfectly good to go with a 20"

ME: ok thank you.

That's nuts. I sent an email last month outlining the number of failures on RS and was just trying to be cool and give them a chance to speak up on the forum. They said they acknowledged the failures but it wasn't an issue and they held to the no barrel length restrictions. The following week they sent an email to all about how great it was to have a Ti can without restriction….so they aren't backing down.

It's silly but there are processes to fix things like this.

What's amazing is that people on RS and here are still buying them! 1 dropped scope on rokslide and the whole company is blackballed, but can after can blowing up is a non issue and talk about great CS! 😂

Free plug for TBAC while we're at it…

I own An Ultra 7 .264 Gen 1. It's great. Had I saw this thread with the issues I would have probably went with an Ultra 5, 7 or Nomad XC. But it was too late to do anything about it now. So hopefully it'll be fine.
