Release Agent for Glass Bedding Cerakote???

From what I understand, Cerakote is 3-4/1000 thick when it is dry. Assuming a normal application.

If you're going to bed it before you cerracoat it I'd put 1 layer of masking tape on the mag well and recoil lug as well as any other extended pieces. Then I'd use the oil. If after the cerracoat I'd oil it after the cerracoat cures or drys. Is that one of the newer finishes that you have to heat to cure?

Bought a can of Epoxease online for $6 plus shipping. It's a release agent. Probably enough to last the rest of yer life. Works great, good online reviews.

I have Used 3 different release agents . I had a powder in it worked good but was a pain to clean up. The best I have used on different kind of epoxy is Brownells spray release agent cleans up easy has oily feel. Not cheap but I had great luck with this product

I'd rather spend money on a release agent, rather than destroying a stock because I went cheap on a release agent and couldn't get the action out of the stock.

LRI sells an aerosol release agent and it's by far the best product that I've ever used and I've tried a bunch.

That's what I was thinking. Even clear packing tape if not left on for long. It's not thick either. Just may be a little pain to get off if not done right.

I've been doing quite a bit of Cerakote work lately. Long winter in Wyoming. Some of the rifles I have Cerakoted also needed to be glass bedded. In the past, I have always done that glass bedding as the last thing. I'm now thinking that's out of order. Maybe I should glass bed before I Cerakote.

I've used neutral shoe polish as a release agent lately and it generally works well. I switched away from Acraglass gel because it seemed to go bad or arrive in bad enough shape I had trouble getting it well mixed. So now using Devcon.

Anyway, that neutral polish is really hard to get out of or off the Cerakote. I ended up trying all sorts of stuff. In the end, I used my wife's heat gun from her craft room to literally "melt" that neutral polish off the action, recoil lug and barrel. It took a lot of time and was a a scary process.

If anyone has suggestions on what might be a better release agent for the Cerakote, they will be appreciated. Thanks.

Don't you have some scrap pieces that are Cerakoted ? If you have them you could try different things like alcohol, acetone, laquer thinner , paint reducer or Grease & wax remover to remove your neutral polish. I would lay my bet on the grease & wax remover. I use this on freshly painted cars to remove grease or whatnot. And it doesn't affect the finish, usually the clear from base coat clear coat. But I have also used it on acrylic & synthetic enamels. I don't let it sit on there long. I take a dry cloth to wipe off afterwards fairly quickly. Just a idea.

I've been using Brownells release agent for over 40 years with all kinds of bedding compoundS. For the last 20 years or so I've been using Devcon and in the last few years been bedding a fair number of cerrakoted rifles and have seen no difference in bedding Cerakote vs blued finish. Still using Brownells release and can't imagine anything else for ease of use and removal…..although I would think One Shot Case Lube may be very similar to use

The Acraglass resin tends to crystallize and the hardener will get stiff. It's not bad. Select the portions you need and microwave it for 5-10 seconds prior to mixing. It's back like new. If it gets too hot just let it cool before mixing.

If it is like the liquid resins I use, you can also soak it in hot water ( in the container of course) and it will loosen up

I had 1 come out Really HARD that is why I went to Brownells spray

I tried to use the 1 shot on my '06 brass 1 time a long time ago and immediately noticed it was harder to pull case from sizer/decapping die. About 8-10 cases later I stuck 1. Tried to get it out with pullers and misc. Had to send it back to have the brass removed. I still have the rest of tthat can.

Although I have never tried it as a release agent, because of that I'd be scared. If others have good success with it and you want to try, it may be the best but not me.
