Hey NXS fans I've got good news! I've been resaerching the perfect reticle to meet my needs and just could not find THE ONE. Like some of you the NP-R1 was close but not perfect. I love the 1MOA subtensions on the vertical but don't understand why you would not also prefer 1MOA on your horizontal? Then along came the new MOAR reticle to not only solve that problem but includes a floating crosshair! For me this reticle is the best I've found but still not quite perfect. That is until I emailed NightForce to ask them why I can't have all those features in a FFP scope? They told me to watch there website because that exact scope is in the works right now!!! Sounds like heaven to me! For you stuck on the NP-R1 I have to ask why you prefer it over the MOAR? They both have 20MOA below the crosshair. I've never shot past 1000yds so what am I missing?
I have called Nightforce ALOT and have heard we could expect this new scope in our hands if we want one by spring next year. Things get delayed and it could be another 6 months, 12 months, etc. etc.
When you go FFP the reticle gets REALLY big on some scopes when you mag it up. I have a NXS NP-RF1 which is the NP-R1 in first focal plane and for shooting distant paper targets or small stuff its gets A S BIG.
I love the FFP for the quickness of short shots and not have to mag up to a certain power for your drops. Have killed stuff in a hurry ranging and just raising up to my holdover no matter what power im on.
Most guys have time and can put the scope on whatever power they need and have time for the calculations for that long shot.
I did a ton of research before I got the Premier and the reticle is holly smokes small on 25 power - almost as small as the second focal plane NP-R1.
I love a fine crosshair or dot for long range use but i also love a any power magnification holdover - so what do you do? Sucks sometimes.
Most hunters use Second focal plane i have noticed and most tactical guys use first focal plane - i could be wrong but that is what i have seemed to noticed. Chime in what you guys think.
What r u missing? - it appears part of your pants.
Did you get some static guard for them?
