Ok, it's time to see lever action kills

tt35, very cool! I would imagine that gave your son a cool connection to the past family generations. To use it on the goat hunt, must have been an interesting decision process, knowing the fact most places the tags are so hard to get. Thanks for sharing the photos!
Thanks, Chadp82! Took quite a bit of conviction to go for the goat with it! The goat would have been an easy poke with the long range rig but they went into the basin after him. An 82 yard off-hand shot through two gaps in the trees and over the back of another billy put him down. The "kid" can shoot a little whether LR or close!

I don't have pics but back in my early 20s I dropped a doe with my Marlin 36adl in 30-30. Funny thing was that I didn't see the 4" maple tree in front of the deer. The 170g power shock bored a 30cal hole right through that tree and struck the deer in the heart. Entry hole on the deer was 30cal, exit was about 1.5". Cleanest kill I ever made. The deer didn't take a step. She just let out a BLLUUURRRRT and flopped straight to the ground. When I butchered her there was a nice clean cone shaped hole through the lungs but the heart was just red slime.

Took this one last September using dogs in New Mexico. Near 300 lbs with my Marlin 44 Mag.

My first rifle was a 94 30-30. It worked perfectly on my first deer. By 15 I figured I should have a bigger rifle, so I bought a Remington 760 30-06. That was fine until I acquired a 7mm mag. Model 70 that shot 1" groups, which beat 2" so obviously was best for Eastern Oregon deer and elk. It worked well until the day I shouldered a Savage 99 featherweight 308. 20 years later, that rifle is still "my best " rifle. And while it also groups in an inch, it hasn't missed several running deer and elk. That gun fits me like a glove. I did spot a BLR lightweight at a shop one day in 325wsm. Got it for elk. Just before season the only ammo available was 220 gr. Silvertip. Shot a spike behind the shoulder at 40 yards, it took 2 steps and fell over. I found 2 exit holes on the off side. The bullet separated. Since then I've found premium loads in 325 so all is good (sorry to admit I don't handload). Finally, I added a Puma 92 in 454 cassul as a brush gun and companion to the Taurus raging bull that I got the year I broke my left shoulder. Sorry I can't post any pics, but I love to hunt with lever guns!

With recent threads on 30/30, I am now on a mission to tag a deer this year with my Dad's Winchester 30/30 serial number built in 1954. I think he would look down and smile. Loaded 170 flat nose and good to go!

So let's see those lever action kills whether 30/30, .35 Rem, 32 Spl.

If you are wearing buffalo plaid so much the better!
Lost my early pics. in a flood but still have the 30-30. Circa. 1956. Wish I had a dollar for every mile I carried this rifle. Used Remiington Core-Lokt in the early years. Now I reload 170gr Nosler Partitions for it.

Dad took this buck with his old Winchester 30-30 back in 1957. i get his score backwards, it's either 193 5/8 or 195 3/8. Either way he was a very nice 16 pt SW Arkansas buck.
