First dog hunt of the year for me in NY and almost got my first triple! Lots of doubles over the years but never a triple, it'll happen eventually lol! Anyways, took the 204 out, Savage 12 VLP, shooting 40 grain vmax over some Varget. This round has left me impressed on Fox and coyotes. No exit on coyotes for the majority of shots and out of the dozens of foxes maybe one or 2 had enormous exits but the rest were minimal. Anyways, had the first Fox come in around 930 and the second around 945. 950 or so a coyote showed up but being I had 2 downed in the field I was distracted and missed my opportunity cause he was going into the thicket when I noticed he was there. Had another one come through at 550 yards but couldn't get him to stop or commit to a call. Honestly haven't reached out there with the 204 yet nor do I think I would. If I had had the 6mm with me it would have been game on but…. lol. Hoping to wipe out at least 20 or more dogs this season, lots of videos on the cameras of them chasing down the deer and that irritates the hell out of me which is why I hunt them. The foxes I hunt for the farmer who has chickens and wants them gone as part of the agreement for hunting there. Going to keep this thread going throughout the season, would love to see others and hear their stories throughout the season and add some pics and details!!! Happy hunting guys, and happy holidays. Merry Christmas early from NY!!!
