Sweet!
That's mighty sexy look'n - solid with nice lines. Weight? Looks like that barrel profile could be bored out to a howitzer!Just realized I didn't even post any pictures of the actual rifle.
It's 12.2 pounds barrel is still over 1" at the muzzle and is the old Winchester #4 octagon pattern. That's mighty sexy look'n - solid with nice lines. Weight? Looks like that barrel profile could be bored out to a howitzer!
I think you meant a 94 winchester.I have 2 30-30's, one is a 1908 Winnie Model '92, my Grandfathers I inherited, and a Marlin (original) 336 Stainless.
In both, the Winchester branded brass has always worked best due to the thicker (relatively) rims. The 1908 '92 has generous shoulder dimensions, so brass growth there has been an issue, same as my 1906 44-40, dimensions are generous, both need careful sizing and semi false shoulders to keep cases from stretching.
The only other brass I have used is Remington, it's fine in the Marlin, but not in the '92.
I have a heap of Starline brass I was given, but haven't used any to date.
Cheers.
You are correct, had the 44-40 in my mind while typing, sorry.I think you meant a 94 winchester.
