Ok, it's time to see lever action kills

Your 1st shot put him on the ground , but he still got back to his feet and ran ?
What was distance for your 1st and 2nd shots ?
Incredible animal .
Their were 7 old bulls together. We were at 110 yards when I fired the first shot he went to his knees and right horn while the others ran off. He jumped back up and started running to catch his friends. Second shot was around 120 yards. Because of the adrenaline in me everything was in slow motion. It was very cool.

41 mag!? That's a rare one. Great caliber
I have one of those as well. Took me several years to find one for a price I was willing to pay. Love the 41 mag.
Yeah I love it and the cartridge. I found it in 2006 at a little country store. Price tag was $600. I already had a S&W in 41 Mag so I bought it on the spot. It's killed several deer and a coyote.

Two years ago I saw another one in a gun store… for $1,500. Pre COVID price!

Yep I regularly saw them going for $1500-$2000. Finally found one in GB for $950 and I was the only one that bid on it. Patience does pay off sometimes. 2D41E425-2772-4D41-9F11-821CB734FAA3.jpeg

I also have a S&W 57 8-3/8 barrel, a 657 7-1/2" hunter model and I have an unfired Henry 41 mag carbine with an octagon barrel.

I have four 41 Mags myself. The 1st 41 Mag is the reason I got into hand loading. Smith model 58 4". Then
Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter 7 & 1/2"
Smith model 657 7 & 1/2" & then I got the Marlin 1894. It has a pistol grip stock with curved lever. (Like a 336) 20" barrel, full length Mag tube holds 10 rounds. Most a deer has ran has been 20 yards with most being bang flops. I use 210 Gr XTP's with a max load of H110.

I also forgot I have a S&W 357PD. Now I ain't afraid of recoil at all in a handgun but that one is no fun to shoot at all with full house handloads.

You should try Alliant 300MP in your 41; actually all your magnum hand Guns for that matter. I picked up a noticeable amount of velocity over H110 with it.

Mike,
Do you know who made the leather cheek piece on your Marlin?

After years of shooting, building and marketing long range rifles, my son Ben decided to do 2020 with his grandma's M94 .30-30 for all of his hunts including his once-in-a-lifetime mountain goat! (Photos property of Way Out West Productions.)

Oh, man! those had to be great hunts, with a "great rifle" the way hunts were made to happen, which make memories forever.
I can relate to those hunts, the biggest Whitetail I ever shot was in Winchester Idaho, and was with my Win 94 .30 WCF... now, I have a metric ton of other LR rifles in my safe, but there's something about hunting with the old rifles... especially old "levers" that make it so much sweeter. Congrats to your son. Cheers.

tt35, very cool! I would imagine that gave your son a cool connection to the past family generations. To use it on the goat hunt, must have been an interesting decision process, knowing the fact most places the tags are so hard to get. Thanks for sharing the photos!
