I plan on running them in mine. It built on a short action, so plan on running around the 120's. Should be fast.
Just took 2 deer with the 121 gr hammer in a1-9 twist 6.5-284 at 3200fps will post pictures later I'm doing a ladder test on my other 6.5-284 lm at 3350 fps with the 121 gr and no pressure your 120 in the 284 should be 3450 plus maybe 3550 with good brass the 121 gr is a very acc bullet in the 6.5 hammer

If you want to have some fun, look at the 109 AH. I've got it going 3511 fps in my 6.5-284. It destroyed a big pronghorn this past August

So apparently the 402gr Shock hammer traveling at 1800 is just barely enough to penetrate a broadside Bison shot at approximately 110 yards and does not have enough steam to break through if it hits the spine. I was able to find the first bullet caught in the fur on the offside of the hide. The second bullet that broke the spine was caught in the shoulder so the butcher said he will get it out and send it back with the meat.

Overall I was very happy with the performance, the first shot was a kill shot through the lungs just above the heart but it stopped again after walking 40 yards so I shot again which was a little high and hit the spine which dropped him. I was aiming for the lungs and under pressure forgot how low their spine sits compared to the white tails I'm used to shooting.

Just a whitetail doe, but the Hammers are still amazing. 308 Win, 152HH at a whopping 27 yards. At the shot, she just simply rag dolled and didn't take a step. Pretty good for a lung/heart shot and the shock wave must have been crazy. Walking up to her, she just had a tiny entrance and medium exit, but from inside the chest cavity was more like a 2" entrance and exit. Only bone hit was ribs. The top of the heart was mush and the lungs were shredded. I think one petal exited the bottom of the chest. Just a handful of meat lost on the exit.

I personally like the idea of lighter in the 45-70 to get the impact velocity higher. I think you might have seen a bit better penetration. All in all though the big heavy did is job. Congrats on a great bison done with great tradition! Glad we could be a part of it.
