Sent 2 barrels and 2 actions off to a shop and I got a invoice at 600 for each chambering and muzzle threaded $1250.00 shipped for 2 barrels chambered and shipping. I may ask them to just mail it all back. What do y'all think?

$600 - $750 for both seems about right to me. How much is the reamer rental added in.

$375 per barrel for that work is most I would pay. It's hard when you can get a barrel from Mcgowen/X-caliber/criterion etc, chambered, threaded and their blank for $600 or so.

What brand barrel blank did you send them?

If their work is good that's right in the ball park. I know some good smiths that would be a little lower and a little higher.

$375 for chambering, crown and barrel install. Threading will typically add $100. If you can find a prefit in the chamber and barrel you want, that would be a win win. Your action will need to be able to accept a prefit. If you get the prefit shouldered by GS you are not going to save much.

Back in, the "Good ole' Days",. I would write, the Customer a Receipt for Down Pymt ( a "Work Order"/ Deposit, receipt )
NO guessing on $$$'s or, un-expected,.. "chit" !

UN-less, you have "something" ( an Estimate ),.. in Writing.
Might call them and ask "nicely" First, about, your Bill ( Why so, High ?? )
